Role & responsibilities
1. Strategic Sourcing & Direct Procurement
- Lead end-to-end direct material procurement for Electrical & Electronic commodities.
- Develop short- and long-term category strategies aligned with business growth, technology roadmap, and manufacturing requirements.
- Manage high-value spend and drive supplier selection, RFQ/RFP, commercial evaluation, negotiation, and contracting.
- Build a competitive mix of local and global suppliers.
- Drive supplier consolidation, alternate source development, dual sourcing, and localization.
2. Electrical & Electronic Commodity Management
The role should have strong sourcing exposure across categories such as:
Electrical Components
- Circuit breakers
- Contactors and relays
- Switches and control devices
- Transformers
- Power supplies / SMPS
- Coils and solenoids
- Motors and fans
- Cables and wires
- Wiring harnesses
- Connectors and terminals
- Terminal blocks
- Busbars and copper components
- Fuses and protection devices
- Sensors and electromechanical assemblies
Electronic Components
- Semiconductors and ICs
- Microcontrollers / MCUs
- MOSFETs, IGBTs and power semiconductor modules
- Diodes and transistors
- Capacitors and resistors
- Inductors and electronic magnetics
- PCB and PCBA
- Sensors
- Electronic control modules
- Displays / HMI components
- Communication and connectivity modules
- Memory and processor components
- Embedded electronic assemblies

3. Cost & Commercial Excellence
- Drive year-on-year cost reduction and procurement productivity targets.
- Lead commercial negotiations on pricing, tooling, MOQ, lead time, payment terms, capacity commitments and long-term agreements.
- Drive Should Costing, Clean Sheet Costing, Benchmarking and VA/VE initiatives.
- Monitor commodity movement and develop appropriate sourcing and negotiation strategies.
- Partner with Engineering and suppliers to identify design-to-cost and value engineering opportunities.
4. Supplier Management & Development
- Identify, evaluate, develop and onboard strategic suppliers.
- Drive supplier performance across Cost, Quality, Delivery, Technology and Sustainability.
- Conduct periodic supplier business reviews and establish improvement plans.
- Develop supplier capabilities in partnership with Quality and Engineering teams.
- Build strategic relationships with key E&E manufacturers and technology suppliers.
5. Localization & Supply Risk Management
- Drive localization and import substitution for critical E&E components.
- Identify single-source and high-risk components and develop alternate supplier strategies.
- Build sourcing strategies for long-lead-time and constrained electronic/semiconductor components.
- Manage component lifecycle and obsolescence-related sourcing risks.
- Develop supplier capacity and business continuity plans to ensure uninterrupted production.
6. NPI & Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with R&D, Product Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Finance.
- Lead Procurement involvement in New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
- Ensure early supplier involvement during product development.
- Support component selection considering cost, availability, manufacturability, localization and supply risk.
- Drive supplier innovation and technology collaboration for new product development.
7. Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of category managers / procurement professionals.
- Build strong category and commercial capabilities within the Direct Procurement organization.
- Establish governance mechanisms and procurement KPIs.
- Drive a culture of cost ownership, supplier innovation, speed and operational excellence.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have:
- 15 to 22 years of experience in Direct Procurement / Strategic Sourcing, with significant experience handling Electrical & Electronic components.
- Strong understanding of the E&E supplier ecosystem and associated manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience in sourcing electronics, electrical, semiconductor, PCB/PCBA, power electronics and electromechanical components.
- Strong track record in cost reduction, negotiations, localization and supplier development.
- Experience managing large procurement spend and complex supplier portfolios.
- Strong exposure to Should Costing, VA/VE, supplier negotiations and commodity strategy.
- Experience working closely with R&D/Engineering for NPI and new component development.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, analytical and commercial negotiation skills.
- Experience in Electrical, Electronics, Industrial Automation, Automotive, Energy Management or Engineering Manufacturing organizations preferred.
