Partners with the businesses to ensure that the capital strategies are operationally supported and strategically focused to secure the greatest return on investment for the global company. Gathers financial data and performs financial analyses and reporting (e.g., profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow, pricing, etc.) to influence decisions within the business and to drive cross-business initiatives (e.g., Mergers & Acquisitions). Drives the forecasting process (weekly, monthly, and long term) by analyzing trends within the businesses and ensuring alignment with business- and corporate-wide objectives. Communicates and drives adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the organization's financial goals and policies. Has the fiduciary responsibility to represent financial results correctly both internally and externally. Ensures strong business controls.
Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. May provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees.
Review customer contracts and assess revenue recognition implications in accordance with US GAAP ASC 606 revenue accounting standards. Analyse complex business transactions and determine appropriate revenue accounting treatment. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances through detailed flux analysis. Ensure accurate revenue recognition by testing key criteria, including shipment cut-off, partial shipments, and exception processing. Support service revenue accounting activities, including adjustments and accruals as required. Execute and maintain SOX controls related to revenue accounting processes and ensure compliance with internal control requirements. Collaborate with Corporate Revenue Accounting and cross-functional teams to support month-end and quarter-end close activities. Partner with Revenue Managers and business stakeholders to support revenue forecasting and reporting activities. Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness, accuracy, and efficiency of revenue accounting operations. Support implementation and adherence to evolving accounting standards and company policies. Participate in special projects and initiatives related to revenue accounting, compliance, and process transformation.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field. CA qualification preferred. 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in Revenue Accounting, Record-to-Report (R2R), Financial Accounting, or Controllership functions.
Proven experience working with revenue recognition principles under US GAAP. Experience supporting global finance teams and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders. Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of accounting principles and revenue recognition requirements under US GAAP (ASC 606). Excellent analytical skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Superior teamwork skills. Strong business acumen. Good project management skills. Excellent business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel). Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high levels of accuracy under tight deadlines.
