Job summary

DSS Takara Bio India is seeking a Senior Field Application Scientist for Genomics, Molecular Biology & High-End Applications in the Bangalore/Karnataka region. The role focuses on an application-led sales model, providing workflow solutions across molecular biology, genomics, diagnostics, biopharma and research applications.

The position is ideal for a scientist who enjoys close customer collaboration and helping build a modern, application-driven commercial organization.

Qualifications

• MSc/MTech/PhD in molecular biology, biotechnology, genomics or life sciences.
• PhD in Life Sciences preferred.
• Experience in life science tools and diagnostics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to customers across molecular biology workflows (PCR, qPCR, RT‑PCR, cloning, NGS, gene expression).
• Support sales teams in technical discussions, demos, troubleshooting and customer training.
• Conduct product seminars, workshops and application‑focused meetings.
• Identify workflow opportunities in academic, biopharma, genomics labs, diagnostics, CRO/CDMOs and startups.
• Support validation and conversion of strategic accounts.
• Collaborate with product managers to create application notes and training material.
• Train internal sales teams on the portfolio.
• Assist customers in selecting appropriate products and protocols for research or diagnostic applications.

Primary Role

DSS Takara Bio India is looking for a technically strong and customer-facing Senior Field Application Scientist – Genomics, Molecular Biology & High-End Applications for the Bangalore/Karnataka region. This role is central to our new application-led sales model, where we want to support customers not just with products, but with complete workflow solutions across molecular biology, genomics, diagnostics, biopharma and research applications.

Experience

• 3–7+ years of experience in application support, technical sales, R&D, product management, or customer‑facing scientific roles.

Qualification

• M.Sc., M.Tech, PhD or equivalent background in molecular biology, biotechnology, genomics, life sciences or related fields.
• PhD in Life Sciences is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to customers across molecular biology, PCR, qPCR, RT‑PCR, cloning, extraction, NGS, gene expression, cell biology and related workflows.
• Support sales teams in technical discussions, demos, troubleshooting and customer training.
• Conduct product seminars, workshops and application‑focused customer meetings.
• Help identify workflow‑based opportunities in academic institutes, biopharma companies, genomics labs, diagnostics companies, CRO/CDMOs and startups.
• Support validation and conversion of strategic accounts.
• Work with product managers to create application notes, customer success stories and training material.
• Train internal sales teams on DSS Takara’s technical portfolio.
• Help customers choose the right products and protocols for their research, diagnostic or industrial applications.

Desired Competence & Skills

• Must be willing to travel extensively across the South region.
• Strong hands‑on understanding of PCR, qPCR, RT‑PCR, nucleic acid extraction, cloning, NGS or gene expression workflows.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to scientists and sales teams.
• Comfortable with customer visits, seminars, demos and troubleshooting.
