Job summary

Qualifications

• Life Science degree with Anatomy/Physiology as main subjects.
• 2–4 years of work experience as a medical coder.
• Certified coder (CPC/COC/CRC/CPCP/CCS/CCSP/CCA).
• Proficient computer skills and code research ability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with strong professionalism.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow policy guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Extract information from patient records and documents.

• Performing chart audits
• Informing supervisor of issues with equipment and computer programs

• Ensuring that codes tally with doctors’ diagnoses
• Keeping up-to-date with new coding rules as they change
• Collecting and distributing coding-related information and billing issues

Required Expertise & Qualifications

• Life Science or equivalent graduation with Anatomy/Physiology as main subjects
• 2 to 4 years of work experience as a medical coder
• One of the following coding certifications: CPC, COC, CRC, CPCP from AAPC, CCS, CCSP, or CCA from AHIMA
• Proficient computer skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
