Job description

Role - Sr Executive - Environment & Sustainability
Role Purpose

The role is responsible for supporting environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives at the Goa manufacturing unit by ensuring efficient operation of environmental systems, statutory compliance, and adherence to pollution control norms. The role is accountable for maintaining environmental performance within regulatory limits, supporting ISO 14001 implementation, and driving continuous improvement in environmental management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental laws, Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) requirements, and corporate environmental standards.
  • Maintain Consent to Operate (CTO), Consent to Establish (CTE), and other statutory environmental approvals.
  • Coordinate environmental inspections and support regulatory audits.
  • Prepare and submit statutory environmental returns and reports within stipulated timelines.
Effluent & Water Management
  • Monitor operation and performance of the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) to ensure treated effluent consistently meets statutory discharge norms.
  • Monitor spent wash generation, storage, handling, and disposal in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Track water consumption, wastewater generation, and identify opportunities for water conservation.
  • Coordinate routine sampling and laboratory analysis of influent, effluent, groundwater, and surface water.
Air Emissions & Pollution Control
  • Monitor stack emissions, DG set emissions, boiler emissions, and ambient air quality.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of pollution control equipment.
  • Coordinate periodic environmental monitoring through approved external laboratories.
  • Maintain compliance with emission standards and environmental permits.
  • Manage hazardous waste, used oil, e-waste, plastic waste, scrap, and solid waste disposal in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Maintain waste inventories, manifests, and disposal records.
  • Coordinate with authorized recyclers and waste disposal agencies.
  • Identify waste reduction and recycling opportunities.
  • Support implementation and continual improvement of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Maintain environmental documentation, registers, SOPs, and legal compliance records.
  • Participate in internal and external ISO audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
  • Assist in management review presentations and environmental performance reporting.
Sustainability & Resource Conservation
  • Support implementation of sustainability initiatives related to water, energy, waste, and carbon reduction.
  • Monitor environmental KPIs and prepare monthly performance dashboards.
  • Drive awareness programs on environmental conservation and sustainable manufacturing practices.
  • Identify improvement projects to enhance environmental performance and resource efficiency.
Monitoring & Reporting
  • Maintain environmental monitoring schedules and calibration records.
  • Analyse environmental performance trends and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support incident investigations related to environmental non-compliance and ensure timely CAPA closure.
  • Prepare monthly MIS reports for site leadership and corporate EHS teams.
Requirements
  • B.E./B.Tech (Chemical, Environmental, Civil, Mechanical or equivalent)
  • 3-7 years of experience in Environmental Management within process/manufacturing industries (Alcohol, Brewery, Distillery, FMCG, Chemical or Food & Beverage preferred)
  • Sound knowledge of: Water & wastewater treatment ETP operations Hazardous Waste Management Rules Water Act & Air Act Environmental Protection Act GSPCB regulations ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
  • Experience in environmental monitoring, statutory reporting, and liaison with regulatory agencies.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting the Manager - EHS in achieving site environmental and sustainability objectives.
