Job summary

Ciena India Private Ltd. in Gurgaon seeks a Software Developer with 6+ years of experience in end-to-end software development. You will design and implement applications for Real Time Network Planning, interfacing with DWDM, SONET/SDH, and OTN networks.

You will work in a dynamic team, contributing to the Blue Planet platform, with opportunities to grow in a telecom-focused R&D environment.

Qualifications

• 6 years of end-to-end software development experience (requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and support).
• Proficiency in C#.NET, REST API and WPF; C language and OOPS concepts are desirable.
• Desirable: Scala, Python; Windows platform; microservices, ASP.NET Core, .NET Framework 4.5.1 or later.
• Experience with message queues like Kafka; JSON/XML data formats; database design and ORM (Cassandra, AWS-S3)
• Knowledge of Client/Server REST API, Web Services, SOAP; familiarity with Docker containers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analysis, software design and implementation to validate and optimize DWDM, SONET/SDH, OTN based networks.
• Apply design principles in client/server, desktop, or microservice environments, focusing on performance and memory.
• Collaborate with Product Owner, PLM and Verification teams; provide time estimates for tasks.
• Complete development tasks including unit testing and documentation.
• Translate requirements into development tasks; assist project manager with delivery timelines.
• Work in Agile Scrum; create/update Jira with DoD and acceptance criteria.
• Design and implement unit/integration tests; coordinate with product verification for defects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Release/Mgmt/Verification to deliver network planning software.

What will you do at Ciena

A software designer is required to aid in the development of a Standalone/ Server- based/ Web based/ Cloud based, network design and engineering application for Real Time Network Planning.

This application is developed for Ciena s leading edge Blue PlanetTM platform. The application will assist customers in the design and development of SONET/ SDH, OTN & Optical DWDM networks featuring Ciena s market leading and pioneering optical products and technologies.

This application is used to design and deploy Ciena s Transport, Switching and Packet hardware for Long haul, Regional and Metro networks.

The successful candidate will be expected follow a disciplined approach to software development to ensure that the application is delivered with high quality, to the required specifications, and by the required delivery date.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of engineers and software designers and will gain firsthand experience developing software

Responsibilities

• Analysis, software design and implementation to validate and optimize DWDM, SONET/ SDH, OTN based networks, which are designed based on a variety of parameters


• Apply design principles to work in a client server, desktop based or microservice- based development environment and keeping in mind performance and memory constraints.


• Work collaboratively with Product Owner, Product Line Manager (PLM) and Verification.


• Complete assigned development tasks including unit testing and documenting work


• Translate functional requirements into development tasks and provide project manager accurate time estimates for completion Troubleshooting and debugging of reported issues


• Keep yourself abreast with latest technology trends General Activities Feature analysis and discussion with product owners to understand and frame the detailed requirements with design estimates.


• Work in Agile Scrum and create/ update Jira s with detailed description, DoD & acceptance criteria.


• Design and Implementation Unit testing & integration testing. Work with product verification team in resolving feature defects.

Candidate qualifications

Candidate should have 6 years of experience in following: End- to- end software development (requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and support) - Critical Languages C#.Net, REST API Critical WPF - Desirable C (C 11 or later preferred), OOPS Desirable Dynamic Languages - Scala, Python - Desirable Platform Windows MicroServices, ASP.NET Core .NET Framework 4.5.1 or later Message Queues like Kafka DB/ File Formats/ ORM Databases e.g. Cassandra, AWS - S3 JSON, XML nHibernate/ Hibernate/ Entity Framework Client/ Server REST API, Web Services, SOAP - Critical Decent Knowledge of Data Structures and exposure to Performance Improvement Critical Additional skills: Problem Solving, Excellent Aptitude and Positive Attitude
