Job summary

Ciena is seeking a Software Developer to contribute to telecom service assurance solutions for next-generation OSS platforms. You will develop and maintain Resource Adapters across FM, PM, and Inventory domains, leveraging Java and scripting in Linux environments.

Ideally you have 1+ year of OSS development experience, strong object-oriented programming skills in Java, and familiarity with telecom protocols like REST API, NETCONF, SNMP and TL1.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with minimum 75% marks.
• 1+ years of Java OSS development experience.
• Proficient in object-oriented programming using Java.
• Experience with XML, Perl, Python, Shell, or other scripting languages in Linux environments.
• Experience in Telecom OSS FM, PM, and Inventory domains.
• Familiarity with REST API, NETCONF, SNMP, Telemetry, TL1 protocols.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Resource Adapters in Telecom OSS FM, PM, and Inventory domains.
• Design Resource Adapters for multiple Network Element types ensuring design integrity.
• Review solution designs and evaluate new features for usability and effectiveness.
• Prepare Resource Adapter release plans and transfer deliveries to the Delivery Team.
• Prepare requirement documentation for Resource Adapter development.
• Deliver strategic Resource Adapters with advanced networking capabilities.

We are looking for a Software Developer to contribute to telecom service assurance solutions that support next-generation OSS platforms. This role helps deliver high-quality Network Resource Adapters that enable management and visibility across complex network environments. The position provides opportunities to contribute to technologies spanning IP/MPLS, Optical Networks, Telco Cloud, 5G, and SD-WAN domains.

How you will make an impact:

• Develop and maintain Resource Adapters in Telecom OSS FM, PM, and Inventory domains.
• Design and develop Resource Adapters for multiple Network Element types while promoting design integrity and standardization.
• Review solution designs and evaluate new features to improve system usability and effectiveness.
• Prepare Resource Adapter release plans.
• Transfer completed deliveries to the Delivery Team.
• Prepare requirement documentation for Resource Adapter development.
• Deliver strategic Resource Adapters with advanced networking capabilities.

The must haves:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, IT, Computer Science Engineering, or equivalent with a minimum percentage of 75%.
• Experience: 1+ years of experience in Java with OSS development and deployment.
• Application of object-oriented programming using Java.
• Application of XML, Perl, Python, Shell, or other scripting languages within Linux-based environments.
• Software development experience in Telecom OSS FM, PM, and Inventory domains.
• Application of Telecom protocols including REST API, NETCONF, SNMP, Telemetry, and TL1.
• Experience developing plans for system usability alongside process experts.
