Job summary

Eaton Corporation in India seeks a Senior Lead Engineer to head a team of eight for MV switchgear design, transfer, and certification across 11KV–33KV applications.

You will drive localization, product redesign, and customer-specific solutions, coordinating with external labs (CPRI/ERDA/Intertek) for mandatory tests and compliance, and mentoring engineers to enhance technical excellence.

Qualifications

• BTech in Electrical / Mechanical.
• 18+ years experience in MV switchgear: RMU, VCB, MV Panels, Compact Substations (11KV/22KV/33KV).

Job description

What you’ll do

Lead a team of eight engineers for MV Switchgear product design, technology transfer, type testing & certification, customization, and adaptation to local market requirements. Provide technical leadership and support for MV Switchgear products including RMU, VCB, MV Panels, and Compact Substations for 11KV, 22KV and 33KV applications. Responsible for driving localization, product redesign, customer‑specific solutions, and coordination with external test laboratories to ensure compliance with applicable standards and certifications.

1. Lead the R&D team of Medium Voltage (MV) Switchgear – RMU, VCB, MV Panel and Compact Substation – 11KV, 22KV and 33KV.
2. Lead cost out and VAVE actions.
3. Competitor bench marking.
4. Global technical coordination for technology transfer.
5. Competency and knowledge management of Medium Voltage switchgear.
6. Lead MV innovation and anticipation actions.
7. Re‑design / customize MV switchgear products as per the customer requirements.
8. Lead the type testing at external test laboratories like CPRI/ERDA, INTERTEK/DEKRA.
9. Perform simulation during designing of switchgear using Ansys for vibrations/shocks and thermal analysis.
10. Lead the technical communication with Sales/Marketing and create technical proposals.
11. Participate in demos, events and training sessions with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

BTech in Electrical / Mechanical. Minimum 18+ years experience in key vertical of Medium Voltage Switchgear – RMU, VCB, MV Panels and Compact substations – 11KV, 22KV and 33KV.

Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of MV switchgear design and also product VAVE, type testing & regulations.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and mentor the team and manage stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks and SAP.
