Job summary

GyanSys Inc. is seeking an experienced Sr. SQL DBA to design, implement, and optimize SQL Server environments across on-prem and cloud, with emphasis on security, performance, and availability.

The role requires 6+ years in enterprise SQL, hands-on experience with Oracle DBs, Azure MS SQL, and cloud tools. You will support Azure & AWS, perform backups, tuning, security audits, and mentoring junior staff in a fast-paced global team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IS, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience/certifications).
• 6+ years of SQL experience in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with Oracle databases.
• Working knowledge of MS SQL in Azure.
• Strong understanding of IT security principles.
• Advanced troubleshooting & task automation experience.
• Experience with patch management tools.
• AWS RDS experience is a plus.
• ITIL certification preferred.
• Strong communication skills; comfortable working with globally dispersed teams.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate database requirements (on-prem & cloud) and recommend scalable solutions.
• Manage backups, restores, integrity checks, and performance tuning.
• Optimize queries and indexes for efficiency.
• Implement and maintain database security policies & compliance standards.
• Conduct regular security audits and address vulnerabilities.
• Maintain high availability clusters and ensure replication uptime.
• Monitor systems proactively using enterprise monitoring tools.
• Generate performance, usage, and capacity planning reports.
• Mentor and guide junior DBAs and System Administrators.
• Support and troubleshoot A.O. Smith SQL servers and databases.
• Serve as escalation point for SQL performance/operational issues.
• Maintain system documentation and perform capacity trending.
• Support Azure & AWS environments as part of ongoing cloud transition.
