Persistent Systems Limited is seeking a seasoned SQL Server Database Architect to lead architecture, governance, modernization, and operational excellence of enterprise SQL Server platforms. You will define state targets across on-prem and cloud and mentor teams across worldwide locations.

Responsibilities include establishing standards for clustering, Always On, backup, encryption, and security governance, while driving modernization, performance tuning, and resilient operations.

Qualifications

• 12-17 years of experience in Database Administration, Engineering, or Architecture.
• Extensive experience with SQL Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 in large enterprise environments.
• Proven expertise in Always On Availability Groups and WSFC.
• High availability, disaster recovery, backup, restore, and business continuity knowledge.
• Experience with change, incident, problem, and release management.
• Database modernization, upgrade, consolidation, and cloud migration programs.
• Advanced T-SQL development, indexing, and performance troubleshooting.
• Windows Server administration and supporting infrastructure knowledge.
• Active Directory, Kerberos, storage, networking, virtualization, and monitoring.
• SQL Server security architecture, auditing, and compliance requirements.
• PowerShell automation and scripting.
• Enterprise architecture frameworks and governance processes.

Responsibilities

• Define current-state, transition-state, and target-state SQL Server architectures for on-prem and cloud.
• Develop reference architectures, standards, design patterns, and decision frameworks.
• Establish clustering, Always On, backup, recovery, monitoring, encryption, and PAM standards.
• Develop lifecycle, capacity planning, modernization, consolidation, and migration roadmaps.
• Act as the technical design authority for enterprise database solutions.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, governance, and service management.
• Drive technical debt reduction and platform modernization initiatives.
• Design HA and DR solutions aligned to business requirements.
• Lead recovery planning, failover testing, restore validation, and resilience assessments.
• Define indexing, query optimization, workload management, and performance tuning standards.
• Set performance baselines, capacity models, and forecasting processes.
• Lead technical response during incidents and major outages.
• Drive root-cause analysis and long-term engineering improvements.
• Define database security architectures and governance standards.
• Implement controls for authentication, encryption, auditing, patching, hardening, and secrets management.
• Partner with cybersecurity, audit, risk, and compliance teams on controls.
• Ensure regulatory and operational resilience requirements are met.
• Support data protection, retention, governance, and compliance initiatives.
• Provide architectural leadership and mentorship to DBAs and engineers.
• Review and approve complex implementation plans and designs.
• Drive automation using PowerShell and scripting.
• Collaborate with infra, application, cloud, and security teams on dependencies.
• Maintain architecture repositories, service maps, and technical documentation.
• Contribute to strategic technology planning and governance.

What You'll Do:

• Define current-state, transition-state, and target-state architecture for SQL Server environments across on-premises and cloud platforms.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 12-17 years of experience in Database Administration, Database Engineering, or Database Architecture roles.

• Proven expertise in designing and implementing Always On Availability Groups and Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC).
• Deep understanding of High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Backup, Restore, and Business Continuity strategies.
