Job summary

VitalEdge is seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure enterprise SQL Server environments across production and non-production systems. You will drive performance tuning, backup/recovery strategies, and robust HA/DR implementations.

The role requires hands-on expertise with Always On, FCI, Log Shipping, and security controls, plus automation using T-SQL and PowerShell.

Qualifications

• 4+ years hands-on SQL Server DBA experience in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server architecture, internals, and performance tuning.
• Experience with HA/DR solutions like Always On, FCI, Log Shipping, and Replication.
• Security, auditing, and compliance controls in SQL Server environments.
• Automation and scripting skills using T-SQL and PowerShell.
• Familiarity with Azure SQL workloads and monitoring tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field.

Responsibilities

• Manage SQL Server environments (2012-2022) across production and non-production systems.
• Perform advanced performance tuning using execution plans, DMVs, and wait statistics.
• Design and maintain backup/recovery strategies including point-in-time recovery.
• Implement and support HA/DR solutions (Always On, Failover Clusters, Log Shipping).
• Execute upgrades, patching, and migrations with minimal downtime.
• Maintain security features including TDE, encryption, auditing, and RBAC.
• Automate maintenance tasks using T-SQL, SQL Agent, and PowerShell.
• Support Azure SQL workloads (Managed Instance, SQL on Azure VM).
• Drive RCA, preventive improvements, and collaborate on CI/CD deployments.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled SQL Server Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure enterprise SQL Server environments. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in performance tuning, high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR), automation, Azure SQL platforms, and production support.

This is a critical role supporting business-critical systems, requiring deep technical capability and a strong ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support SQL Server environments (2012-2022) across production and non-production systems
• Perform advanced performance tuning using execution plans, Query Store, DMVs, and wait statistics
• Troubleshoot complex database issues including locking, blocking, deadlocks, memory grants, TempDB, and I/O bottlenecks
• Design and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery and disaster recovery drills
• Implement and support HA/DR solutions (Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clusters, Log Shipping, Replication, CDC)
• Execute SQL Server upgrades, patching, and version migrations with minimal downtime
• Implement and maintain SQL Server security features including TDE, encryption, auditing, and role-based access control
• Automate routine maintenance and monitoring tasks using T-SQL, SQL Agent, and PowerShell
• Support Azure SQL workloads (Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, SQL on Azure VM)
• Drive incident resolution, root cause analysis (RCA), and long-term preventive improvements
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams for controlled production deployments and CI/CD initiatives
• Focus on proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and regular performance health checks

Required Skills & Education

• 4+ years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience in production environments
• Strong expertise in SQL Server architecture and internals (Buffer Pool, Plan Cache, Transaction Log, TempDB)
• Advanced query and server-level performance tuning skills
• Deep understanding of Always On AGs, FCI, Replication, CDC, and Log Shipping
• Strong experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery scenarios
• Solid knowledge of SQL Server security and compliance controls
• Experience with automation and scripting (T-SQL, PowerShell)
• Working knowledge of Azure SQL and monitoring tools
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong troubleshooting ability, communication skills, and ownership mindset
• Functional experience in any ERP in the Service or Logistics Area such as Sales, Distribution, Procurement and Inventory Management - (Exposure on multiple Projects)
