Job summary

Gates Corporation in Chennai is seeking a seasoned Costing & Supplier Development professional to drive the commodity strategy and qualify new components and suppliers. You will support issues in production, outsourcing, and capacity expansion while auditing suppliers to ensure conformance.

The role requires deep knowledge of PPAP, metal part development (die casting, stamping, forging, machining) and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure timely launches with suppliers in the Power

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Mechanical).
• Total 10 years of experience with a minimum of 6 years in costing and development of parts related to die casting, stamping, forging and machining.
• Solid understanding of metal manufacturing includes casting, sheet-metal, machining, and coatings & Engineering drawing.

Responsibilities

• Handle commercial-related settlements with suppliers and ensure timely closure.
• Work with Sourcing Manager on Supplier strategies to related categories and ensure execution.
• Coordinate with Stakeholders for all Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) for child parts and follow development timelines.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The responsibility of the role is to execute Commodity strategy, develop & qualify new components, processes and suppliers, support issues with current production, outsourcing, increase capacity, and auditing suppliers to ensure process conformance. Make all necessary coordination between departments to ensure flawless launches with suppliers.

The responsibility of the role is to execute Commodity strategy, develop & qualify new components, processes and suppliers, support issues with current production, outsourcing, increase capacity, and auditing suppliers to ensure process conformance. Make all necessary coordination between departments to ensure flawless launches with suppliers.

The assigned territories include Metal Power Transmission businesses in India. The specific responsibilities will fall into three primary areas:

Maximum 3 pointers per accountability

Accountability #1: Customer (Internal / External Stakeholders)

• Handle commercial-related settlements with suppliers and ensure timely closure.
• Work with Sourcing Manager on Supplier strategies to related categories and ensure execution.
• New supplier addition through Global NSAP and approval with SQA,
• Coordinate with Stakeholders for all Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) for child Parts.
• Follow-up for development timeline. (Release of drawing/Get quote/regular visit at vendor/meet development timeline).

Accountability #2: Process / Performance

• Detailed knowledge of all PPAP documentation. Preparation and review PPAP documentation with vendors and co-ordinate for PPAP clearance with QA for new parts.
• Knowledge of development of PDC /Sheet metal/ Machined / Forging / Rubber & Plastic Injection moulded components, quickly support for proto samples etc.

Accountability #3: People

• Cost saving initiatives. Achieved major cost reduction targets by introduction of new vendors and process.
