Job summary

Alpine Executive Search Mumbai is seeking a senior professional to lead end-to-end product development and strategic sourcing for goods like luggage, bags and consumer products. You will manage design, sampling, prototyping, and timely launches, while developing suppliers and optimizing costs.

The role requires extensive experience in NPD, vendor management, costing, BOMs, and cross-functional collaboration across design, quality, planning and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• 12–15 years of experience in Product Development, Sourcing, Vendor Development, or Manufacturing.
• Experience in luggage, bags, backpacks, footwear, consumer goods, or plastics industries.
• Hands-on experience in NPD, supplier management, costing, BOM preparation, and cross-functional coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end product development from design to launch.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop domestic and international suppliers based on quality, cost, capacity and technical capabilities.
• Prepare product and raw material costing, negotiate supplier pricing and drive cost optimization.
• Prepare and maintain BOMs, product costing sheets, pricing records, and material cost documentation.
• Coordinate with Design, Marketing, Quality, Planning, Manufacturing and Procurement teams to meet requirements and launch timelines.
• Monitor supplier performance, ensure quality and compliance standards; coordinate audits and corrective actions.
• Track market and material trends; develop alternative suppliers and improve sourcing processes for cost savings.
• Maintain product development trackers, supplier databases, agreements, NDAs, costing records and MIS reports.

Role & responsibilities

1. Product Development: Manage end-to-end product development, including design, sampling, prototyping, testing, pilot production, and timely product launch.
2. Vendor Development: Identify, evaluate, and develop domestic and international suppliers based on quality, cost, capacity, and technical capabilities.
3. Costing & Negotiation: Prepare product and raw material costing, negotiate supplier pricing, identify alternative sourcing options, and drive cost optimization through value engineering.
4. BOM & Pricing Management: Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), product costing sheets, pricing records, and material cost documentation.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate with Design, Marketing, Quality, Planning, Manufacturing, and Procurement teams to ensure product requirements, approvals, and launch timelines are met.
6. Supplier Quality Management: Monitor supplier performance, ensure quality and compliance standards, coordinate audits, resolve quality issues, and implement corrective actions.
7. Strategic Sourcing & Improvement: Track market and material trends, develop alternative suppliers, improve sourcing processes, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
8. MIS & Documentation: Maintain product development trackers, supplier databases, agreements, NDAs, costing records, and MIS reports for effective monitoring and reporting.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Production, Polymer, or Textile Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• MBA/PGDM in Operations, Supply Chain, or Materials Management will be an added advantage.
• 12–15 years of experience in Product Development, Sourcing, Vendor Development, or Manufacturing, preferably in luggage, bags, backpacks, footwear, consumer goods, or plastics industries.
• Hands-on experience in end-to-end New Product Development (NPD), supplier management, costing, BOM preparation, and cross-functional coordination.
• Experience with ERP systems is preferred, with knowledge of LN ERP being an added advantage.
