Role Overview

The Solution Architect - Senior Manager is accountable for overseeing the design of robust technology solutions that realise tangible business value, while ensuring alignment with Enterprise Architecture principles and long‑term solution operability. They provide high‑level technical assurance for delivered solutions, partnering with product teams to deliver against functional requirements prioritized by the business.

Responsibilities

• Oversee other Solution Architects to define comprehensive and robust technology solutions for multiple medium‑ and high‑complexity teams that fulfil business needs.
• Ensure technology solutions are aligned with Enterprise Architecture principles and the wider architectural runway.
• Partner with other Solution Architects, Platform Architects, and Enterprise Architects (as required) to design large, integrated solutions.
• Provide high‑level technical assurance for delivered technology solutions, ensuring compliance with agreed technical guardrails and standards.
• Support the Enterprise Architecture function in defining guardrails, standards, and solution patterns.
• Play a critical role in reviewing and advising on complex and/or high‑risk solutions with the Enterprise Architecture Change Board; request exemption to agreed standards and guardrails as needed.
• Support the evaluation and selection of software components to meet architectural design needs.
• Collaborate with Functional Consultants and Developers to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Build and maintain a repository of all solution architecture artefacts and reusable components.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert in solution design and a technical expert within the relevant functional or technology domain.
• Advocate for solution or component reusability, where possible, to expedite delivery progress.
• Document and model existing solutions or systems architecture, identifying areas of technical debt for resolution by product teams or the Enterprise Architecture function.
• Provide coaching to new or junior Solution Architects.

Qualifications

• Over 8 years of experience designing comprehensive and robust technology solutions.
• Deep understanding of the technology landscape for the Finance product stream (e.g., PowerPlatform, Azure, SAP Hybris, SAP FICO, SAP SD, payment and invoicing applications, costing).
• Demonstrable experience providing technical assurance for delivered solutions, ensuring compliance with common security and architectural guidelines.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for translating complex requirements into clear architectural blueprints and troubleshooting technical issues.
• Forward‑thinking: the ability to anticipate medium to long‑term implications of architectural decisions.
• Ability to operate with high autonomy, with line‑management responsibilities for other Solution Architects in their product/platform team.
