Flexi Careers India seeks an experienced Solution Architect to design and deliver a hybrid application and data platform that integrates IBM DB2/Mainframe with Microsoft Azure. The role partners with the Data Architect to implement the data strategy, owning architecture, integration patterns, platform engineering, and deployment.

You will lead end-to-end architecture for DB2 Azure applications, define data pipelines, and design scalable microservices with Java 21 and Spring Boot.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to design and deliver a hybrid application and data platform integrating IBM DB2/Mainframe systems with Microsoft Azure. This role will partner closely with the Data Architect to implement the data strategy (ODS, replication, CDC), while owning:

• Application architecture
• Integration patterns
• Platform engineering and deployment

The focus is on enabling:

• Java-based modernization (Spring Boot / Spring Batch)
• Cloud-native application design on Azure
• Seamless DB2 Azure PostgreSQL integration

Key Responsibilities:

Architecture & Solution Design

• Define end-to-end architecture for DB2 Azure applications and services
• Collaborate with Data Architect on ODS design, data pipelines, and synchronization patterns
• Design scalable microservices architecture using Java 21 and Spring Boot

Application & Integration Architecture

• Architect and guide development of:
  • Batch processing solutions using Spring Batch
  • Microservices for DB2 data access and write-back (APIs/services)
• Define patterns for data ingestion, processing, and transactional updates
• Ensure alignment between application layer and data platform (ODS/PostgreSQL)
• Design bi-directional integration using APIs, event-driven (Event Hub/Kafka), and CDC patterns

Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering

• Design and implement cloud-native solutions on Azure
• Define and enforce Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (mandatory)
• Drive automation, standardized deployments, and secure cloud architecture

Database & Platform Alignment

• Design application interaction with DB2 (system of record) and PostgreSQL (cloud ODS)
• Ensure efficient queries, data consistency, and optimal system performance

Governance, Performance & Reliability

• Ensure high availability, scalability, and resilience of solutions
• Drive best practices for performance tuning, fault tolerance, and recovery
• Establish monitoring, logging, and observability frameworks

Leadership & Collaboration

• Provide technical leadership and architecture governance
• Partner with Data Architects, engineering, and business teams
• Conduct design reviews and enforce enterprise standards

Required Skills & Experience:

Core Architecture

• 1012+ years of experience in Solution Architecture / Application Architecture
• Strong experience in legacy modernization and hybrid architectures (DB2 + Cloud)

Java & Application Development (Critical)

• Strong hands-on expertise in:
  • Java (Java 17 / Java 21 mandatory)
  • Spring Boot (microservices architecture)
  • Spring Batch (batch processing frameworks)
• Experience designing:
  • High-volume batch processing systems
  • Scalable microservices for enterprise platforms

Cloud & DevOps

• Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, including:
  • Azure App Services / Functions
  • Azure Data Services (ADF, Event Hub – working knowledge)
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Terraform (Infrastructure as Code – must-have)
  • CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Data & Database Systems

• Strong experience with:
  • IBM DB2 / Mainframe integration
  • PostgreSQL (relational DB for cloud-based ODS)
• Solid understanding of:
  • Data consistency and transaction management
  • Distributed system design

Integration & Architecture

• Experience designing:
  • API-driven and event-driven architectures
  • Hybrid application + data integration systems
• Good understanding of:
  • CDC and data synchronization patterns (working with Data Architect)

Good to have:

• Knowledge on mainframe environments (DB2, COBOL ecosystems)
• Exposure to financial services domain.
• Familiarity with DataStage or legacy ETL tools
• Azure certifications (Solution Architect Expert preferred)
• Experience with cloud governance frameworks and enterprise architecture standards
