Job Description – Site Engineer (Solar C&I Projects)
Position: Site Engineer – Solar EPC (Rooftop & Ground-Mounted C&I Projects)
Reporting To: Project Manager
Role Objective
To supervise and execute on-site installation of solar EPC projects, ensuring quality,
safety, and timely progress as per design and project plan.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. Site Supervision & Execution
- Oversee daily installation activities (module mounting, structure erection, cabling, inverter & LT/HT panels, earthing, etc.).
- Coordinate with subcontractors, technicians, and labour teams for smooth execution.
- Verify work against drawings and BOQ.
- 2. Quality & Safety
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, PPE usage, and safe installation practices.
- Conduct on-site quality checks and inspection of materials and workmanship.
- Maintain site checklists, quality reports, and handover documentation.
- 3. Material & Resource Management
- Track and manage receipt of materials at site; maintain stock records.
- Raise material indents/requirements to PM on time.
- Minimize wastage and optimize resource utilization.
- 4. Coordination & Reporting
- Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day site issues.
- Provide daily/weekly progress updates to the Project Manager.
- Assist in site measurements, billing verification, and client inspections.
- Support pre-commissioning tests (continuity, insulation resistance, string)
- Assist in synchronisation with grid/discom approvals.
- Ensure smooth site handover to O&M team.
Desired Profile
- Education: Diploma / B.E. in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil.
- 2–5 years for Diploma holders, 1–3 years for Engineers.
- Hands-on exposure to solar project installation (rooftop or ground-mount).
- Good knowledge of solar electrical systems (DC, AC, LT/HT interface).
- Ability to read drawings (civil, structural, electrical).
- Strong problem-solving and site communication.
- Adherence to site schedule (actual vs. planned progress).
- Quality compliance (snag-free execution).
- Material reconciliation accuracy.
- Client/PM satisfaction with site execution.
Diploma Engineers: Commensurate with Industry Standards
- Graduate Engineers (B.E./B.Tech): Commensurate with Industry Standards
- Site allowances, travel reimbursement, and stay/food at project site extra.
