Job summary

ABC Fitness is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional team across backend, frontend, cloud, DevOps, and production support. You will own delivery across roadmaps, technical debt, and incident response, while shaping the next-gen Insights application and guiding Azure-to-AWS migration.

• Experience with AI-assisted development using Cursor and applying it to design, coding, testing, and incident analysis.
• Experience with CI/CD, release engineering, and environment management.
• Ability to operate in production including incident management and reliability improvements.
• Strong collaboration with Product owners and backlog shaping.
• Ability to coach engineers and balance hands-on work with leadership.

• Improve engineering practices across code quality, testing, observability, release management, and incident analysis; promote AI-assisted tooling usage.
• Support transition and long-term ownership of components into full-time team accountability.
• Strengthen application reliability across multi-tenant architecture, data platforms, and integrations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and coach a team across backend, frontend, cloud, DevOps, production support, and release validation responsibilities.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership for a production web application environment built around .NET / C#, APIs, React / Redux, current Azure services, and modern CI/CD practices, while leading the team's cloud migration to AWS.
• Help define the next‑generation direction for the Insights application, including modernization, architecture, AWS target‑state design, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and developer productivity with AI‑assisted tooling such as Cursor.
• Own delivery execution across roadmap work, technical debt, operational improvements, incident response, release readiness, and production support.
• Partner closely with Product, Data Engineering, QA, DevOps, Support, and business stakeholders to translate priorities into clear technical plans, backlog decisions, acceptance criteria, and delivery outcomes.
• Improve engineering practices across code quality, review discipline, automated testing, observability, release management, incident learning, service‑level objectives, and responsible use of AI coding tools including Cursor.
• Support transition and long‑term ownership of complex or partner‑built application components into full‑time team accountability.
• Strengthen application reliability across multi‑tenant architecture, customer access models, background processing, messaging, integrations, and data platform dependencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Recent hands‑on experience designing, building, reviewing, and operating production web applications; this is not a people‑only management role.
• Strong technical background in .NET / C#, API development, React or comparable SPA frameworks, and modern web application architecture.
• Experience leading engineering teams through delivery planning, technical decision‑making, production support, and release execution.
• Working knowledge of the current Azure production stack (App Service, Service Bus, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Blob Storage, Entra ID, or comparable services), plus hands‑on AWS experience to lead and execute the platform migration to AWS.
• Hands‑on AWS experience with production application workloads (for example EC2 / ECS / EKS / Lambda, RDS, S3, SQS / SNS, IAM, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, and AWS‑aligned CI/CD), including cloud migration or platform cutover experience.
• Practical experience with AI‑assisted software development, including Cursor (or a closely comparable AI coding assistant / IDE), and the ability to apply it to design, coding, code review, testing, documentation, and incident analysis while keeping humans accountable for production quality.
• Experience with CI/CD, release engineering, environment management, and migration or improvement of build and deployment workflows.
• Ability to operate in a production environment, including incident management, root‑cause analysis, observability, service health, and reliability improvement.
• Strong collaboration with Product or Product Owner functions, including backlog shaping, acceptance criteria, tradeoff decisions, and roadmap execution.
• Ability to coach engineers at all experience levels, create accountability, and balance hands‑on technical guidance with people leadership.

IT'S GREAT TO HAVE

• Experience with Power BI, embedded analytics, or other BI / reporting platforms.
• Deeper AWS architecture experience (landing zones, networking, identity, cost management, or large‑scale Azure‑to‑AWS application migration).
• Experience establishing team standards for AI‑assisted development with Cursor, including prompt/review practices, security guardrails, and measuring productivity impact.
• Experience with multi‑tenant architecture and hierarchical customer access models.
• Experience modernizing a large, long‑lived frontend application, including framework and build‑toolchain upgrades.
• Familiarity with warehousing, ETL, data engineering partnerships, or data platform adjacency.
• Experience with payments, billing integrations, SSO, identity federation, SOC 2, vertical SaaS, fitness, wellness, or multi‑product platform environments.

Clear ownership, stable delivery rhythms, and strong accountability across application development and production support.

The current application is better understood, better documented, more reliable, and easier for the team to operate and enhance.

A practical next‑generation application direction is defined, with clear modernization priorities, an Azure‑to‑AWS migration sequence, and team adoption of AI‑assisted engineering (including Cursor).

Releases are more predictable, incidents are managed with discipline, and quality validation improves across environments.

Engineers on the team receive strong technical guidance, coaching, prioritization, and support for growth.
