Rever is seeking a backend engineer to build scalable services using Python, FastAPI and PostgreSQL. You will design APIs, integrate ERP and financial data systems, and craft intelligent agents with Pydantic AI to manage complex workflows.

You’ll also develop agent tools, evaluation frameworks, and robust tests to ensure reliability. You should have a strong foundation in Python, SQL, and API design, plus a track record shipping backend applications to production.

About the role:

• You'll construct backend services using Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL that power Rever's platform.
• ERP and financial integrations, APIs, and data pipelines form the core of what you'll build.
• You'll develop intelligent agents using Pydantic AI, designing typed dependencies and structured outputs to handle complex workflows.
• Building agent tools falls to you- these retrieve financial data, execute deterministic checks, and gather evidence for decision-making.
• Creating evaluation frameworks, test datasets, and regression tests ensures your agents perform reliably.
• You'll work on agent orchestration, tracing, error handling, and performance optimization across the system.

What we're looking for:

• Strong foundation in Python, SQL, and API design.
• Proven track record shipping backend applications to production.
• Working knowledge of large language models, tool calling, and agent-based architectures.
• Commitment to data accuracy, comprehensive testing, and code you'd want to maintain.
• Self-directed approach, genuine curiosity about problems, and clear communication.
• Experience with Pydantic AI, agent-evaluation frameworks, OAuth flows, background job systems, or financial domain knowledge is a bonus.
