Kuku is India''s leading audio/video content platform, building and operating data pipelines, ML infrastructure, and networking that power a massive streaming ecosystem. The infra team focuses on scalable pipelines, secure connectivity, and reliable platform tooling.

We seek backend/infra engineers with production experience, strong Python, and hands-on work with distributed processing, container orchestration, and observability. You''ll contribute to end-to-end data and ML workflows at scale.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years in backend or infra engineering with production experience.
• Strong Python in production environments.
• Experience with distributed data processing & streaming systems.
• Hands-on with container orchestration & infra-as-code tooling.
• Familiarity with observability—metrics, logs, traces.
• Some understanding of ML pipelines and data flow.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines handling large-scale events.
• Develop and optimize network infrastructure for secure, reliable internal communication.
• Contribute to ML pipeline infrastructure including data ingestion and feature pipelines.
• Tackle platform problems like container orchestration and infra-as-code abstractions.
• Improve observability: define SLIs, set alerts, reduce MTTR.
• Support CI/CD reliability: faster builds, cleaner rollouts, fewer incidents at deploy time.
• Contribute to internal AI tooling to boost developer productivity.

About the team

Kuku is India's largest audio/video content platform - 3M+ DAU, 50k+ hours of content, and over 3 billion events processed daily. The infra team owns the foundation that makes all of this work: data pipelines, ML infrastructure, network infrastructure, platform tooling, CI/CD, and observability. We're a lean team with high ownership. What you build ships fast and operates at real scale.

What you'll work on

• Build and maintain data pipelines - batch and streaming - that process 3B+ daily events. Reliability and cost matter as much as throughput.
• Work on network infrastructure - service connectivity, internal networking abstractions, and ensuring secure, reliable communication across our platform services.
• Own pieces of ML pipeline infrastructure: data ingestion, feature pipelines, and model serving infra that supports our recommendation and personalisation systems.
• Work on platform problems: container orchestration, infra-as-code, and internal abstractions that let product teams move without depending on infra for every deploy.
• Set up and improve our observability stack. Define SLIs, own alerts, reduce MTTR. If something breaks, we want to know before users do.
• Contribute to CI/CD reliability: faster builds, cleaner rollouts, fewer incidents at deploy time.
• Contribute to internal AI tooling - building or integrating tools that improve developer productivity and automate repetitive infra and data workflows.

What we're looking for

• 3-5 years in backend or infrastructure engineering, with production experience - not just side projects
• Strong Python; you write code that runs in production, not just automation scripts
• Real experience with distributed data processing and streaming systems in a production environment
• Hands-on with container orchestration and infra-as-code tooling
• Familiarity with observability tooling - metrics, logs, traces
• Some understanding of ML pipelines - you don't need to be an ML engineer, but knowing how data flows from raw to model matters here

Good to have

• Experience with real-time streaming architectures
• Exposure to ML infrastructure, feature stores, or data governance
• Prior work in a consumer product company where data volumes are high and latency budgets are tight
• Contributions to open-source infra or data tooling
