Job summary

AMETEK in Bengaluru, India seeks a Software Engineer to design, develop, and support AP Suite components for Atom Probe Tomography workflows. You will work on Windows desktop applications for large 3D datasets and collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product teams to deliver robust software solutions.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3–6 years of software design and development experience.
  • Experience in a collaborative environment with source control, CI/testing/validation/documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance software components within AP Suite (Reconstruction, Analysis, Data Navigator, Asset Manager, DAVis).
  • Develop and maintain Windows desktop applications for large 3D atom probe datasets.
  • Contribute to scientific and data processing functionality with focus on correctness, performance, and maintainability.
  • Debug, fix defects, and perform code improvements as part of sustaining engineering.
  • Participate in software testing and validation to ensure quality, reliability, and reproducibility of results.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, product management, and service teams to translate domain requirements into robust software solutions.
  • Contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and continuous improvement of development practices.
  • Own assigned features from design through implementation and validation.
  • Support high-quality user workflows balancing performance, accuracy, and usability.

Job description

As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and support features across the AP Suite software platform for Atom Probe Tomography (APT) data workflows. This role contributes to multiple components of the product, including reconstruction, analysis, data management, and visualization modules.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance software components within AP Suite, including Reconstruction, Analysis, Data Navigator, Asset Manager, and DAVis modules.
  • Develop and maintain Windows desktop applications for working with large and complex 3D atom probe datasets.
  • Contribute to scientific and data processing functionality with a focus on correctness, performance, and maintainability.
  • Perform debugging, defect resolution, and code improvements as part of ongoing sustaining engineering efforts.
  • Participate in software testing and validation activities to ensure quality, reliability, and reproducibility of results.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, product management, and service teams to translate domain requirements into robust software solutions.
  • Contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and continuous improvement of development practices.
  • Take ownership of assigned features or components, from design through implementation and validation.
  • Support high-quality user workflows by balancing performance, accuracy, and usability.
Requirements
  • BS in Computer Science (or BS in Engineering, Math, or Science with relevant practical software development experience) or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3–6 years of professional software design and development experience, with demonstrated growth in technical responsibility.
  • Experience developing software in a collaborative environment (source control, release management, continuous integration and testing, validation, documentation, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently with strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • A demonstrated drive for quality results and pride in workmanship and team success.
Professional Knowledge & Abilities
  • Designing and maintaining complex Windows desktop applications using C#, C++, or similar languages in production environments.
  • Building .NET desktop applications using WPF and MVVM, including data access with Entity Framework.
  • Using modern software development practices such as source control, Agile development, Clean Code, and continuous integration.
  • Developing or implementing 3D data analysis algorithms in scientific, engineering, or analytical software domains.
  • Developing performance critical or multithreaded applications that work with large datasets.
  • Designing effective user interfaces for technical or scientific users.
  • Developing analytical or scientific software or quickly learning and applying complex domain knowledge.
  • Contributing to software components across multiple releases and participating in technical design discussions.
