Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Strong embedded C programming skills, including data structures, memory management, and low-level programming.
• Experience with testing tools such as IBM Rational Test RealTime, VectorCAST, or equivalent.
• Understanding of embedded systems fundamentals, including microcontroller architecture, interrupts, memory, timing, and real-time behavior.
• Hands-on experience with processors or microcontrollers from Microchip, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, or similar providers.
• Experience with IDEs such as IAR Embedded Workbench, MPLAB X IDE, Keil, or equivalent.
• Experience developing device drivers or software interfaces for ARINC 429, I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, ADC, and DAC.
• Ability to read datasheets, electrical schematics, and interface control information.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, troubleshoot, and maintain embedded application software, drivers, and firmware.
• Develop scalable, portable, and efficient software architectures and designs that meet requirements.
• Collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to review interfaces and datasheets.
• Perform requirements-based verification to ensure software satisfies its requirements.
• Create and review lifecycle data, documentation, source code, and tests.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our engineering team in Bangalore. In this Software Engineer role, you will contribute across the aerospace software development lifecycle, including requirements-based design, implementation, verification, and certification support in accordance with DO-178B/C and applicable project standards.

The successful candidate will work as an independent contributor in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Clear written and verbal communication is essential for reporting status, delivering milestones, and working effectively with engineering teams, customers, managers, and certification stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, troubleshoot, and maintain embedded application software, device drivers, and operating system firmware using C and/or C++.
• Develop scalable, portable, and efficient software architectures and detailed designs that satisfy defined requirements.
• Collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to understand system requirements and review schematics, datasheets, and interface specifications.
• Perform requirements-based high-level and low-level software verification to demonstrate that the implemented software satisfies its corresponding requirements.
• Create and review lifecycle data, including requirements, design documentation, source code, tests in accordance project standards.
• Participate in customer and certification-authority audits and clearly explain the technical aspects of the software, its verification evidence, and associated lifecycle data.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Strong embedded C programming skills, including knowledge of data structures, memory management, and low-level programming.
• Experience developing and executing test cases for high-level and low-level software testing using tools such as IBM Rational Test RealTime, VectorCAST, or equivalent tools.
• Sound understanding of embedded systems fundamentals, including microcontroller architecture, interrupts, memory, timing, and real-time behavior.
• Hands-on experience with processors or microcontrollers from Microchip, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, or similar providers.
• Experience with embedded development environments such as IAR Embedded Workbench, MPLAB X IDE, Keil, or equivalent tools.
• Experience developing device drivers or software interfaces for peripherals and communication protocols such as ARINC 429, I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, ADC, and DAC.
• Ability to read and interpret datasheets, electrical schematics, interface control information, and other hardware documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Practical experience with aerospace software development and verification activities performed in accordance with DO-178B/C.
• Working knowledge of IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS for requirements management, Mantis for issue tracking, and PVCS for configuration management, or equivalent tools.
• Ability and willingness to use approved AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and cost effectiveness.
• Familiarity with full-lifecycle aerospace engineering projects, including development, verification, configuration management, quality assurance, and certification support.
• Working knowledge of C++ and Python.
• Exposure to test software development using LabVIEW, Microsoft Visual Studio, and C#.
