Job summary

Nike Global Technology is seeking a Software Engineer II for Geographies & Marketplace Experiences in India Tech Center. You will join a high‑throughput, low‑latency order management platform team delivering scalable cloud-native services across Nike experiences.

You will contribute to backend development, mentor peers, and drive adoption of modern DevOps and AI-powered tooling to accelerate delivery while ensuring reliability and observability across the stack.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years software development experience
• Experience in distributed/cloud-based environments (AWS/GCE/Azure)
• Experience with microservice architecture, domain-driven design, RESTful services using Java and Spring Boot
• Experience with AI-powered developer tools to accelerate development
• Experience with Test Driven development and tools like JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, Playwright
• Experience with monitoring/tracing tools (Splunk, SignalFx, Kibana/Grafana)
• Experience with NoSQL and relational databases (DynamoDB, MySQL, Oracle)
• Experience with CI/CD and GitHub workflows and release readiness
• Observability and operational readiness including monitoring and alerting
• Scrum/Agile methodologies and cross-functional collaboration
• End-to-end ownership including requirements, design, implementation, reviews, maintenance

Responsibilities

• Participate in technical development and delivery of backend cloud-native microservices
• Contribute ideas for new features and scalable digital asset management services
• Write clean, tested, and well-documented code; mentor other engineers

You are responsible for building next generation tools and services that serve consumer ready product information to Nike experiences and back end teams. We are in the process of modernizing our entire product data platform, building scalable applications and services in the cloud. Our operations tools are used by hundreds of users across the globe to plan, prepare, and activate Nike products across multiple Nike consumer experiences. Our product data services are being updated to unlock Omni-channel business cases, and support billions of API calls per month. This is a team that’s always on the offense, working on innovative solutions and building world class solutions to serve Nike teams and consumers around the globe.

As a Software Engineer II for the Geographies & Marketplace Experiences team, you will be part of a mission critical team focused on building a high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant Order Management platform that drives Nike’s Digital transformation and growth strategies.

• A minimum of 3+ years software development experience.

• Experience working in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment

• Experience working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (e.g. AWS Services, GCE, Azure etc.)

• Experience in micro service architecture, domain driven design, and RESTful Services using Java and Spring Boot framework mandatorily.

• Demonstrate an AI-first mindset, actively leveraging AI powered developer tools (e.g., Cursor) to accelerate development and learning.

• Experience in Test Driven development – with Junit, Mockito, cucumber, Playwright etc.,

• Experience with monitoring and tracing tools like Splunk, SignalFx, Kibana/Grafana etc.

• Experience working with NoSQL data stores like DynamoDB and relational data stores like MySQL, Oracle etc.

• Experience with continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery experience preferred.

• Working knowledge of Scrum and agile principles.

• Working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with globally distributed and diverse teams

• Demonstrate end-to-end ownership of project/capabilities that includes requirements evaluation, design, implementation, code reviews, observability, maintenance and support.

• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other relevant subject area, or equivalent experience

• Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins) and engineering hygiene: GitHub workflows (branching, PR reviews, code quality, collaboration) and release readiness

• Observability and operational readiness using Splunk and SignalFx, including monitoring and alerting

The following would be nice-to-have:

• Experience in designing and implementing highly scalable web applications

• Exposure to eCommerce and Supply Chain domain areas like order management, fulfilment, and warehouse management

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As a Software Engineer II, you will be part of the Shared Platforms Technology Engineering team, which is responsible for building next generation tools and services that serve consumer ready product information to Nike experiences and back-end teams.

In this role, you will

• Participate in technical development and delivery of backend cloud native micro services

• Contribute ideas for new features and identifying technical areas for improvement proactively collaborating with product team members at Nike to design, develop, and deploy a highly scalable digital asset management system and services.

• You will use your in-depth experience in software development to write clean, tested, and well-documented code, as well as perform peer code review process and mentor other engineers on the team.

• You will remain current with industry trends and participate in development of key innovation features.

• You will support the team’s agile practices, promoting continuous improvement and collaboration to deliver top-notch consumer experiences at scale.

• Leverage GenAI powered capabilities (RAG, prompt driven workflows, MCP and spec driven architectures) to deliver faster, scalable, intelligent capabilities & experiences

• Ensure quality of the code and products throughout the entire development lifecycle (DevOps)

• Ensure continuous improvement in performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, usability, and availability of the platform

• Leverage agile methodology concepts for quality, delivery and continuous improvement

• Participate in sprint planning and other scrum ceremonies. Help team plan and execute sprint tickets

• Work in full DevOps model in the entire tech stack including designing, implementing, deploying, monitoring, and operating services at scale

• Resolve technical issues and remove blockers for the team

• Actively participate in code review and feedback for other developers
