Job summary

Nike is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its Paid & Owned Media and Business Insights teams. You will design scalable data pipelines and analytics models turning marketing data into actionable intelligence.

Work with global product and engineering peers, own data integrity, build cloud-native AWS solutions, and drive CI/CD and Agile practices with strong stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years software development experience in Python or Java, Databricks, Hive, Spark, EMR and SQL.
• Write complex queries with joins, window functions, and aggregation logic.
• Data visualization fundamentals in marketing analytics, digital analytics, or customer data.
• Experience in using AI-powered solutions.
• Experience in microservices architecture, domain-driven design, and RESTful APIs using languages such as Node.js and Python.
• Experience using cloud services to build an integrated application (AWS - EC2, ECS, API gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB).
• Experience with implementing CI/CD and leading teams with DevOps responsibilities of deploying and supporting the software in production
• Experience with highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environments
• Solid understanding of Scrum and Agile principles
• Dedication to and hands‑on experience in performing technical code reviews
• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively connect with both business and technical teams
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development workflows
• Nice-to-have experience with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, etc.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate: Work closely with product managers and engineers to understand requirements and technical specifications, and deliver quality software.
• Explain designs to teammates for alignment and approval
• Ensure solutions are designed and developed using a scalable, highly resilient cloud‑native architecture
• Development: Design and implement large datasets and complex data pipelines using technologies like Python, Java, Databricks, Hive, and Spark
• Participate in design reviews with peers to provide feedback
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices
• Database Management: Develop databases, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Testing & Quality Assurance: Write unit tests and integration tests, and maintain high code-quality standards using tools such as Jest, Mocha, or similar.
• Performance Optimization: Identify and fix performance bottlenecks across the full stack, ensuring high availability and responsiveness.
• CI/CD Integration: Integrate with and maintain continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for seamless software delivery.
• Agile Methodologies: Participate in Agile processes, including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, code reviews, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
