Job summary

SGS Société Générale de Surveillance SA in Bengaluru is seeking a Data Engineer to help plan and coordinate the Data Engineering Team, and to support Azure-based data solutions and ETL developments. You will collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure data quality and governance across the DWH and Datamarts.

The role requires 5+ years in data engineering and 3+ years in Azure, with strong scripting and BI tool experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Data Engineering experience.
• 3+ years of Azure ecosystem experience.
• Experience managing Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency with Azure Synapse and Databricks.
• Strong scripting skills: PowerShell, Python and Bash.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
• Basic security skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across departments to ensure data quality and accessibility.
• Analyze business processes generating data and identify issues for improvement.
• Promptly report data risks such as breaches or quality impacts.

Job description

ResponsibilitiesDUTIES:

• Help to manage the plannning and the coordination of the Data Engineering Team
• Support the coordination of the activities with Suppliers
• Support troubleshooting and performance tuning
• Actively participate to meetings and produce minutes, send reminders to activity owners
• Understand and contribute to define solutions to satisfy the requirements, requests, and needs of Data Management & Analytics Team
• Support the design of data solutions, defining effort, costs, governance and compliance with Data Management Policy and Privacy regulation
• Support to define, develop, test and release ETLs, Data Integration, jobs and procedures of data updates of the local DWH and Datamarts
• Document all new developments or changes, making the documentation available in the defined repository
• Interfacing and collaborating with various stakeholders and suppliers
• Ensure development cycle complies with project phases, and all stakeholders are updated
• Collaborate with other Depts to ensure information accessibility and data quality
• Contribute to the analysis of business processes that generate data acquisition, identifying any critical issues and areas for improvement
• Promptly report any actual or potential data risks, such as breaches, quality impacts, loss of relevant info, data viz displaying misleading info etc.

KEY SKILL AREAS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
• Deep Azure services knowledge including compute, networking, storage and databases
• Good ability to manage Azure DevOps and CI/CD
• Proficiency in Azure Synapse and Databriks
• Strong knowledge of advanced scripting in Powershell, Python and Bash
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, in particular PowerBI
• Basics of Microsoft PowerAutomate
• Proficiency in SQL in its various versions
• Strong knowledge of databases
• Good knowledge of SQL Server
• Understanding and ability to manage ETLs
• Good knowledge of Data modeling and Architectures
• Good understanding of Big Data context and technologies
• Basic Security skills
