Job summary

Tesco Bengaluru is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team, align product direction with stakeholders, and drive architectural decisions for scalable SaaS solutions. The role requires mentoring engineers, shaping processes, and delivering high-quality releases across distributed environments.

You will collaborate with cross-geography teams, own delivery milestones, and foster innovation while leveraging cloud, microservices, and modern DevOps practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience in building distributed, high-performance, fault-tolerant systems.
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC and modern development practices.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-geo / cross-team initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with SaaS-based products and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
  • Familiarity with design/implementation trade-offs in microservices and distributed caching.

Responsibilities

  • Hire and grow a team of high-performing engineers.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineers into leaders/ SMEs.
  • Develop and improve processes for team efficiency.
  • Drive product direction by interfacing with stakeholders.
  • Participate in design and architecture reviews and ensure timely, high-quality releases.
  • Manage full-stack teams and lead adoption of TDD where applicable.
  • Demonstrate breadth in programming languages and paradigms.

You will be responsible for
  • Hire and Grow a team of High Performing Engineers.
  • Motivate Mentor Coach to develop engineers into Leaders/SMEs
  • Develop new and Improve existing processes to ensure smooth functioning of the team
  • Drive Product Direction and Strategy by interfacing with other stakeholders
  • Participate in Design and Architecture Reviews
  • Drive timely and high-quality software releases
  • Ability to manage Full Stack teams.
  • Comfortably test drive any feature/comfortable with TDD cycle
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of other programming languages & paradigms and when to apply them
  • Comfortably debug/find complex problems.
You will need
  • Proven track record of motivating and retaining talent building teams
  • Knowledge of SDLC and utilities like JIRA GitHub or others.
  • Good experience in collaborating and driving cross-geo / cross-team projects
  • Experience working on SaaS-based products.
  • Experience with public clouds like Azure, AWS (Azure if preferred) is desired.
  • Familiarity with Design/Implementation trade-offs in building clustered high-performance fault-tolerant distributed systems software.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes Containers Micro-service and at least one high-level programming language.
  • Experience with server-side technologies such as SpringBoot Micronaut etc.
  • Experience with Event-Driven Systems using Message Brokers.
