Job summary

Tesco Technology Bengaluru is hiring a Software Development Engineer III to design, develop, and scale enterprise backend systems and AI-powered apps. You’ll work on distributed, cloud-native services using Java and/or Python, Spring Boot, Kafka, and Kubernetes.

You’ll mentor peers, participate in architecture reviews, and collaborate with product teams to translate requirements into robust solutions. A strong background in databases, CI/CD, and observability will help you thrive in our hybrid

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong programming skills in Java and/or Python.
• Experience building applications using Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Design, Design Principles, and common Design Patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven systems.
• Experience designing and developing distributed applications and services.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and NoSQL databases.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience deploying and operating applications on Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and CI/CD practices.

• Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance, reliability, and scalability improvements.

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Software Development Engineer III (SDE III) to design, develop, and scale enterprise-grade backend systems and AI-powered applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on experience with distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and modern AI technologies, while contributing as a senior individual contributor within an agile engineering team.This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive complex projects from design through production deployment.

You will be responsible for

• Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
• Experience implementing Business Driven Development (BDD) practices.
• Exposure to platform engineering and cloud-native architectures.
