Job summary

ABC Fitness is seeking a Backend Java Engineer to design and build backend services for Connect / XLerate, focusing on APIs and data-driven features. You will collaborate with product managers, testers, and developers in a hybrid on-site/remote setup in Hyderabad.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience building backend services with Java/JVM.
• Experience designing and maintaining APIs and service-oriented backends.
• Strong understanding of agile development methods in an Agile/Lean/CD environment.
• Knowledge of testing principles and basic code versioning tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services using Java as part of Connect / XLerate delivery.
• Build and maintain APIs and service logic powering automations and features.
• Work with SQL and relational data as needed for feature delivery.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and testers to ship reliable increments.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous delivery improvements.
• Engage with a cross-functional team in a customer-focused environment.
• Utilize Agile & Lean practices with DevOps and CI/CD.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and develop backend services using Java as part of Connect / XLerate delivery
• Build and maintain APIs and service logic that power automations, communications, and related Connect product features
• Work with SQL and relational data as needed for feature delivery
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and testers to ship reliable increments
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of our delivery practices
• Work with an energized, fun, friendly and customer-focused cross-functional team
• Use cutting edge Agile & Lean ways of working underpinned by DevOps and CI/CD

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field exp. preferred
• 2+ years of experience building backend services with Java / JVM
• Experience designing and maintaining APIs and service-oriented backends
• Solid understanding of the practical application of agile development methods in an Agile/Lean/Continuous Delivery environment
• Knowledge of modern Quality and Testing principles
• Comfortable learning new technologies and systems
• Basic knowledge of code versioning tools - we have workflows in place, and you don't need to be an expert, just open to learning

AND IT'S GREAT TO HAVE:

• Familiarity with Golang
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Working knowledge of MongoDB
• Experience with messaging/queues or event-driven services
• Exposure to AWS or similar cloud platforms
• Interest in CRM or data-intensive product domains
• Knowledge of tooling around continuous deployment
