Job summary

ABC Fitness is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to shape our CRM data platform. You will design and optimize data pipelines, build lakehouse models with Iceberg, and own the reliability of critical data paths across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant field preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in data engineering/back-end data roles; prior lead experience preferred.
• Strong expertise writing and optimizing complex SQL against large datasets (MySQL or equivalent).
• Experience with data pipelines (ETL/ELT and/or event-driven replication) in production.
• Hands-on AWS infrastructure for data platforms (or equivalent on another cloud) including compute, storage, networking, and IAM.
• Experience with Trino or another distributed SQL engine in production.
• Experience designing analytical models on a cloud warehouse (Amazon Redshift or equivalent).
• Solid understanding of the practical application of agile development methods in an Agile/Lean/Continuous Delivery environment.
• Knowledge of modern Quality and Testing principles for data and services.
• Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable mentoring and aligning stakeholders.
• Comfortable learning new technologies and systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical data engineering design for XLerate across multiple CRM-space teams, with focus on Member Aggregate, segmentation, and the data paths that power audiences, campaigns, reporting, and Connect-driven use cases.
• Design, build, and optimize high-performance SQL and data-intensive workflows on large MySQL and Redshift datasets.
• Design and operate lakehouse-style analytical models (including Apache Iceberg) used by segmentation, audiences, and reporting.
• Own reliability of the CRM data platform path — pipelines, replication, and query infrastructure that product squads depend on.
• Partner with Product and engineers on teams such as CRM Ops and Connect to ship data capabilities that unlock measurable studio outcomes.
• Provide technical mentorship on data modeling, query performance, and production-safe delivery.
• Work with an energized, fun, friendly and customer-focused cross-functional network of teams.
• Use cutting edge Agile & Lean ways of working underpinned by DevOps and CI/CD.

• Hands-on AWS infrastructure for data platforms (or equivalent experience on another cloud IaaS), including compute, storage, networking, and IAM as used by warehouses and query engines
• Experience with Trino or another distributed SQL engine in production
• Experience designing analytical models on a cloud warehouse (Amazon Redshift or equivalent)
• Solid understanding of the practical application of agile development methods in an Agile/Lean/Continuous Delivery environment
• Knowledge of modern Quality and Testing principles for data and services
• Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable mentoring and aligning stakeholders
• Comfortable learning new technologies and systems

AND IT’S GREAT TO HAVE:

• Experience with Golang or Java services that consume or serve CRM/member data
• Familiarity with analytics stacks (e.g. Trino) or warehouse patterns
• Apache Iceberg (or another open table format) and lakehouse patterns
• Experience with dbt for transforming and testing lakehouse models
• Infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform) for data platform components
• Experience with messaging/streaming (e.g. SQS, Kafka) at scale
• Prior CRM, marketing-tech, or audience/segmentation domain experience
