Job summary

BMW TechWorks India Private Limited is seeking a Software Developer for Android compatibility test suite CI integration in Bengaluru. The role focuses on developing Python and shell-based test execution within CI, and extending CTS/VTS tests in our CI system.

You will manage test jobs with YAML and Ansible, and fix issues in the test automation infrastructure. You will collaborate with the Android platform compatibility team and contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Zuul CI, Docker, and GitHub

Qualifications

• 5+ years of practical software development experience.
• Strong Python coding and OO design, with testing experience.
• Proficient in Linux shell scripting.
• Experience with test automation, preferably Zuul and Ansible.
• Familiar with Git-based workflows (GitHub EE, Gerrit).
• Self-driven and able to work in an agile team.

Software Developer - Android compatibility test suite CI integration [SVE]

The SVE team develops, maintains, and continuously evolves automated test machinery primarily used in the CI system as part of the Delivery Chain. The automation supports local developer engineering use cases and provides cross‑ECU test automation services. The Android Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) and Vendor Test Suite (VTS) are integrated into our test and validation infrastructure to ensure that BMW’s Android‑based infotainment system runs third‑party Android applications consistently.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and extend Python and shell‑based test execution in CI.
• Build and maintain functionality to run CTS/VTS tests in the CI system, including handling Android ADB, ECU flashing, and related tasks.
• Create and manage test jobs using YAML and Ansible.
• Analyze and resolve issues with the test automation infrastructure and implementation.
• Collaborate with the Android platform compatibility team.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline maintenance and improvement using Zuul CI, Docker, and GitHub workflows.
• Own day‑to‑day operational work, including bug fixes, performance improvements, and incremental feature enhancements driven by internal user feedback and test results.
• Write, maintain, and extend the testing infrastructure, ensuring high code quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• Business‑fluent English.
• University degree in computer science or a comparable field of study.
• At least 5 years of practical software development experience.
• Strong coding skills in Python, with object‑oriented design and testing experience.
• Proficient in Linux shell scripting.
• Experience with test automation, preferably using Zuul and Ansible.
• Analytical mindset and strong problem‑solving skills.
• Hands‑on knowledge of Linux development, debugging, and virtualization.
• Experience with Git‑based workflows (Git, GitHub EE, Gerrit).
