Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a seasoned Software Cloud Engineer to join the Intelligent Commerce Services (ICS) platform team. The role focuses on cloud-native, microservices-based architecture for a subscription commerce platform, with emphasis on security, scalability, and reliable delivery across the full order lifecycle.

You will work with DevOps to develop tooling, deploy cloud initiatives, and ensure governance, monitoring, and fault analysis for complex distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Typically 4-8 years of work experience in distributed & cloud computing, software design, or related areas.
• Advanced degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience is also acceptable.

Software Cloud Engineer Description - Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Software Cloud Engineer to join the Intelligent Commerce Services (ICS) platform team.ICS is a distributed microservices ecosystem powering a subscription commerce platform - encompassing the full order lifecycle from address screening and fulfillment through billing, subscription management, partner compensation, returns, and reporting.This role requires deep technical expertise, hands-on systems design capability, and the ability to bridge business requirements with scalable, secure, cloud-native architecture.

Responsibilities

• Works with the software engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the organization.


• Plans, designs, and develops cloud-based applications.


• Manages cloud environments in accordance with the organization’s security guidelines.


• Deploys and debugs cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.


• Partners with DevOps to develop tooling and infrastructure for cloud development and cloud operations use cases, with a focus on microservices deployment and distributed systems monitoring and fault analysis.


• Executes job using Test Driven Development (TDD) approach and supports continuous integration and continuous deployment patterns.


• Develops processes for enforcing cloud governance, architecture, operating procedures, monitoring, and system standards.


• Responds to incidents, owns them, and drives to completion, participates in root cause analysis.


• Solve difficult and complex problems with a fresh perspective, demonstrating good judgment in selecting creative solutions and managing projects independently.


• Leads moderate to high complexity projects, delivering professionally written reports, and supports the realization of operational and strategic plans.

Education & Experience Recommended

Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence. Typically has 4-8 years of work experience, preferably in distributed & cloud computing, software & cloud design, programming languages, agile development methodologies, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in Java / Spring Boot microservices architecture


• Proficiency in Golang for building high-performance, cloud-native microservices


• Expertise designing event-driven systems using message brokers (RabbitMQ, Solace, or equivalent)


• Hands-on experience with REST API design, versioning, and governance; familiarity with SOAP/WSDL integration


• Experience with cloud-native deployment on Kubernetes; AWS services (Secrets Manager, ACM, IAM)


• Working knowledge of OAuth2 / OIDC, scope-based authorization, and HMAC-based webhook security
