Job summary

Siemens Mobility is seeking an experienced Train IT Software Architect to lead a small development team in Pune, India. You will guide technical decisions, drive software design, and coordinate with customers and internal teams to deliver Train IT subsystems across the lifecycle.

The role requires strong OO programming in C/C++, proficiency in Linux, and hands-on experience with network concepts and debugging tools.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience with leadership exposure.
• Experience leading a small technical team and coordinating with stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills and English fluency.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming (C/C++); C# is a plus.

Responsibilities

We are looking for Software Architect – Train IT

We are seeking an experienced Train IT Software Architect to lead the small development project team and help with communication to our customers and organization. If you have strong technical background, have experience with leading a small team and want to develop your organization and communication skills, please, read on.

You’ll make a difference by

• Act as a software development lead for a small team (6-8 members).
• Manage backlog of the team, expectations of stakeholders and project deliverables.
• Take responsibility for implementation and integration of Train IT subsystems along the development lifecycle of a train project.
• Collaborate with the team on choosing the correct technical approach for projects at hand.
• Challenge the team to grow its capabilities and improve its service to customers.
• Define functional concepts, use cases, and system requirements based on customer requirements.
• Optimize workflows in the team and team's communication

Desired Skills

• At least 10+ years of experience in software development.
• Experience with leading a small technical team.
• Strong in communication.
• Background in object-oriented programming (ideally C/C++, C# could be as well).
• Linux systems and good understanding of how they work.
• Ready to build specific domain know-how of train systems.
• Understand configuration management, build automation.
• Support the team in building its technical tool chain by balancing it with project delivery topics.
• Understanding of Networking and Wireless Communication principles. Hands-on experience with packet analysis tools like Wireshark or similar dump utilities is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) is a strong plus.
• Proven experience of working with C++ open-source libraries (e.g., BOOST, ACE etc.).
• Fluency in English
