Job Description Site Supervisor

Position: Site Supervisor
Department: Projects / Construction
Reporting To: Project Manager / Site Engineer / Principal Architect
Location: Rajokri
Experience: 3–8 years preferred

Role Purpose

The Site Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and execution of construction and interior works at site, ensuring that work is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, timelines and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Execution

• Supervise day-to-day construction, civil, architectural and interior works.
• Ensure work is executed strictly as per approved drawings, BOQ, specifications and instructions.
• Check dimensions, levels, alignments and workmanship at various stages.
• Identify site issues and coordinate with the Project Manager/Architect for resolution.
• Ensure proper sequencing of activities to avoid delays and rework.

2. Labour & Contractor Management

• Coordinate and supervise contractors, subcontractors, labour and specialist agencies.
• Allocate daily work and monitor labour productivity.
• Maintain daily labour attendance and manpower deployment records.
• Ensure contractors have adequate manpower, tools and equipment.
• Monitor workmanship and immediately rectify substandard work.

3. Quality Control

• Inspect incoming materials and ensure they conform to approved specifications.
• Monitor quality of civil, masonry, plaster, flooring, waterproofing, painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and other works.
• Ensure proper execution of critical activities such as waterproofing, tile laying, joinery, finishes and MEP coordination.
• Identify defects and ensure timely rectification.
• Maintain quality checklists and inspection records.

4. Drawings & Technical Coordination

• Maintain the latest approved drawings at site.
• Read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
• Coordinate with consultants and contractors whenever drawings or site conditions require clarification.
• Ensure that obsolete/revised drawings are removed from site circulation.
• Highlight discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions.

5. Material Management

• Check material deliveries against approved specifications and quantities.
• Ensure proper storage and protection of materials at site.
• Monitor material consumption and minimise wastage.
• Raise material requirements sufficiently in advance to avoid interruption of work.
• Report shortages, damages or quality issues immediately.

6. Progress Monitoring

• Prepare and maintain daily work progress reports.
• Track activities against the project schedule.
• Highlight delays, bottlenecks and dependencies to the Project Manager.
• Monitor critical-path activities and ensure timely completion.
• Maintain photographic records of site progress.

7. Safety & Housekeeping

• Ensure workers follow site safety requirements and use appropriate PPE.
• Maintain proper site housekeeping and access routes.
• Report unsafe practices and site hazards immediately.
• Ensure safe storage and handling of materials and equipment.

8. Measurement & Documentation

• Assist the Project Manager/Quantity Surveyor in checking measurements of completed work.
• Verify contractor work quantities before certification.
• Maintain records of material receipts, labour, work progress and inspections.
• Maintain snag lists and ensure closure of all snags.

Daily Responsibilities

The Site Supervisor should, at a minimum:

• Conduct a morning site inspection.
• Review the day's planned activities.
• Check manpower and contractor deployment.
• Verify availability of materials.
• Ensure drawings/instructions required for the day's work are available.
• Monitor execution throughout the day.
• Record issues, delays and decisions.
• Take progress photographs.
• Conduct an end-of-day inspection.

Authority & Accountability

The Site Supervisor will have authority to:

• Stop work that is clearly unsafe or does not conform to approved drawings/specifications.
• Reject visibly defective or unsuitable materials, subject to confirmation by the Project Manager.
• Instruct contractors to rectify workmanship issues.
• Escalate design, technical, commercial and coordination issues to the appropriate authority.
