Job summary

Progress Software is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our global team in India. You will safeguard systems, implement scalable cloud services, and automate tasks to reduce toil while ensuring PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and SOC2 compliance.

You’ll work with Kubernetes, Docker, and Rancher, and drive IaC practices across Azure/AWS/GCP in a collaborative, agile setting. Your responsibilities include on-call rotations, incident postmortems, and partnering with Development, QA, and

Qualifications

• 6+ years of proven experience as a Senior SRE or in a similar production role.
• Strong Windows and Linux systems skills, plus scripting proficiency.
• Hands-on experience with cloud services and container orchestration.
• Familiarity with security, compliance frameworks, and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard systems against breaches and ensure PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SOC2 compliance.
• Build and maintain scalable, secure services in Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Automate routine tasks, backups, and server configurations for high availability.
• Implement observability tools, optimize performance, and address incidents proactively.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead postmortem reviews.
• Collaborate with developers, QA, and support teams in agile environments.
• Handle complex customer provisioning with Sales and Professional Services.
• Champion IaC practices using Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.

In This Role, You Will

• Security & Compliance: Safeguard systems against breaches and ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SOC2, and other standards.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Build and maintain scalable, secure services in Azure, AWS, or GCP using cloud-native tools.
• Automation & System Admin: Automate routine tasks, manage backups, and configure servers for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Monitoring & Performance: Implement observability tools, optimize system performance, and proactively address issues.
• Incident Response: Participate in on‑call rotations, troubleshoot service incidents, and lead postmortem reviews.
• Collaboration: Work closely with developers, QA, and support teams in agile environments.
• Customer Provisioning: Handle complex customer account setups in coordination with Sales and Professional Services.
• Infrastructure as Code: Champion IaC practices using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.

Your Background

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 6+ years of Proven experience in a Senior SRE or similar role in production environments.
• Strong skills in Windows/Linux, scripting (Shell, Python, PowerShell), and cloud services (ECS, EKS, S3, etc.).
• Good to have hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher, and container orchestration.
• Familiarity with security protocols, network concepts (TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS), and compliance frameworks.
• Ability to debug, optimize, and automate to reduce operational toil.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, problem‑solving mindset.
• Experience with PCI, HIPAA, and SOC2 compliance.
• Experience with cloud‑hosted apps/services (Azure/AWS)
• Ability to debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks to eliminate toil.
• Willing to work in APJ Time zone [7:00 AM to 4:00 PM IST]
