Job summary

Persistent Systems Limited in Pune is seeking a highly motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with DevSecOps and Platform Engineering expertise. You will ensure reliability, availability, scalability, and security of enterprise applications and platform services, collaborating with development, operations, and security teams to automate infrastructure and improve developer experience.

• 5–8 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Operations.
• Experience with large-scale production systems focusing on reliability and availability.
• Strong scripting and automation using Python, Bash, Go, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Define, implement, and manage SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for critical apps and platform services.
• Drive availability and uptime targets through proactive monitoring and operational excellence.
• Own production readiness activities including resilience testing, incident management, DR and BC planning.
• Automate operational tasks, runbooks, and support processes to reduce manual effort.
• Implement self-healing capabilities and reliability engineering practices across enterprise platforms.
• Conduct capacity planning, performance optimization, and scalability assessments.
• Establish readiness frameworks, governance, and operational standards for engineering teams.
• Build and maintain developer self-service platforms and golden-path automation for onboarding and provisioning.
• Support CI/CD pipeline provisioning and deployment automation initiatives.
• Contribute to cloud modernization and replatforming across AWS and Azure.

What You'll Do:

• Define, implement, and manage Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and error budgets for critical applications and platform services.
• Drive application availability, reliability, and uptime targets through proactive monitoring and operational excellence practices.
• Own production readiness activities including resilience testing, incident management, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
• Automate operational tasks, runbooks, and support processes to reduce manual effort and operational overhead.
• Implement self-healing capabilities and reliability engineering practices across enterprise platforms.
• Conduct infrastructure capacity planning, performance optimization, and scalability assessments.
• Establish service readiness frameworks, operational standards, and governance controls for engineering teams.
• Build and maintain developer self-service platforms and golden-path automation for service onboarding and infrastructure provisioning.
• Support repository creation, deployment automation, and CI/CD pipeline provisioning initiatives.
• Contribute to cloud modernization and replatforming initiatives across AWS and Azure environments.
• Automate cloud deployments and infrastructure management using Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Enhance and secure CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub, Azure DevOps, OpenText DA, and related technologies.
• Support containerized application deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, and ECS.
• Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability solutions using Grafana, OpenSearch, and related platforms.
• Generate SLA, SLO, MTTR, and operational performance reports to improve service delivery.
• Support DevSecOps initiatives by integrating security controls, vulnerability monitoring, and remediation processes.
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement activities.
• Collaborate with product, platform, and security teams to improve system reliability and developer productivity.
• Support 24x7 operational monitoring and escalation management as required.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 5 to 8 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Operations.
• Strong experience operating and supporting large-scale production systems with a focus on reliability and availability.
• Deep understanding of SRE concepts including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident management, and operational excellence.
• Strong scripting and automation expertise using Python, Bash, Go, or similar programming languages.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Experience working with configuration management tools such as Ansible.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and/or Microsoft Azure cloud platforms.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and ECS.
• Experience implementing and managing secure CI/CD pipelines and release automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles, cloud security, and secure software delivery practices.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and logging platforms such as Grafana, OpenSearch, Prometheus, ELK Stack, or equivalent solutions.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery planning, business continuity practices, and high-availability architectures.
• Experience troubleshooting performance bottlenecks, infrastructure issues, and production incidents.
• Understanding of Agile, DevOps, and modern software delivery methodologies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
