Job summary

Tata Consulting Engineers is seeking a senior mechanical engineer with 12–15+ years of experience in thermal power, industrial, refinery, petrochemical, or large infrastructure projects. You will lead site execution for BTG/BOP systems, review drawings and specs, and coordinate with multiple teams to ensure safe, timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 12–15+ years in thermal power, industrial, refinery, petrochemical, or large infra projects.
• Hands-on site execution with BTG and/or BOP systems: erection, installation, testing.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, erection methods, specs, and field quality.
• Experience in monitoring contractor performance and coordinating multidisciplinary activities.
• Good analytical, communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise site execution for BTG or BOP systems and work fronts.
• Review engineering drawings, technical specs, method statements, and erection procedures.
• Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, standards, quality requirements, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate with contractors, supervisors, OEM reps, and site teams for smooth execution.
• Track daily progress and report deviations, risks, and constraints to management.
• Verify availability of materials, equipment, manpower, and work fronts.
• Conduct routine inspections of installation, erection, alignment, and testing.
• Identify site execution challenges and escalate for timely resolution.
• Coordinate with Civil, Electrical, C&I, and Commissioning teams to ensure interface management.
• Maintain site records, quality documentation, inspection reports, and progress tracking.
• Support pre-commissioning, system turnover, punch points, and commissioning readiness.
• Promote and enforce project safety standards and best practices at site.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise site execution activities for assigned BTG or BOP systems and work fronts.
• Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and erection procedures before implementation.
• Ensure construction and erection activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, project standards, quality requirements, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate with contractors, supervisors, OEM representatives, and site teams to facilitate smooth execution of mechanical works.
• Track daily progress against project schedules and report deviations, risks, and constraints to project management.
• Verify availability of materials, equipment, manpower, and work fronts required for planned activities.
• Conduct routine inspections of installation, erection, alignment, and testing activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Identify site execution challenges, interface issues, and construction bottlenecks, and elevate them for timely resolution.
• Coordinate with Civil, Electrical, C&I, and Commissioning teams to ensure uninterrupted execution and interface management.
• Maintain site records, quality documentation, inspection reports, and progress tracking systems.
• Support pre-commissioning, system turnover, punch point closure, and commissioning readiness activities.
• Promote and enforce project safety standards and best construction practices at the work site.
