Position: Site In-Charge Civil Construction Experience: 15+ Years Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering Industry: Civil Construction / Infrastructure / Building Projects
Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Site In-Charge Civil Construction with 15+ years of experience in managing and supervising civil construction activities at project sites. The candidate will be responsible for overall site execution, manpower management, subcontractor coordination, quality control, safety compliance, material planning, and ensuring that project activities are completed within the approved schedule and budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for day-to-day civil construction site activities and execution.
- Plan, organize, and supervise construction activities in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Coordinate with Client, Project Managers, consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors for smooth project execution.
- Manage and monitor civil works including RCC, structural works, masonry, plastering, flooring, waterproofing, finishing, roads, drainage, foundations, and other associated works.
- Review construction drawings, BOQs, specifications, and method statements and ensure proper execution at site.
- Ensure that construction activities are carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes.
- Prepare daily/weekly work plans and monitor progress against project milestones.
- Manage site manpower, subcontractors, equipment, and resources effectively.
- Coordinate with the planning team to monitor project progress and identify delays or constraints.
- Ensure timely availability of materials, manpower, machinery, and equipment required for construction activities.
- Inspect workmanship and ensure compliance with approved quality standards and inspection procedures.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC team for inspections, testing, approvals, and rectification of defects.
- Ensure proper implementation of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements at the project site.
- Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Verify quantities and measurements of completed works and coordinate with the billing/commercial team.
- Maintain proper site records including daily progress reports, inspection reports, material records, manpower reports, and work measurements.
- Identify construction issues, resolve site-level technical problems, and elevate critical matters to management.
- Coordinate with consultants and clients for site inspections, approvals, and technical clarifications.
- Ensure proper utilization of materials and minimize wastage.
- Monitor project costs and support the Project Manager in controlling construction-related expenses.
- Ensure timely completion of activities as per the approved project schedule and construction program.
- Conduct regular site meetings with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and workers.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and organized storage of construction materials at site.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, supervisors, and site staff.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in civil construction, preferably in large-scale building, industrial, infrastructure, commercial, residential, or similar projects.
- Strong experience in site execution and construction management.
- Good knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Experience in managing subcontractors, site teams, manpower, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret civil/structural drawings and BOQs.
- Knowledge of relevant IS Codes, construction practices, safety standards, and quality procedures.
- Good understanding of project planning, scheduling, quantity measurement, and progress monitoring.
- Proficiency in MS Office and construction/project management software; knowledge of AutoCAD and Primavera/MS Project would be an advantage.
