Lead Software Engineer (Developer) – ServiceNow IRM
Location: Pune/ Blore, India
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer with deep expertise in ServiceNow Integrated Risk Management (IRM) to join our team in Pune. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, enhancement, and support of enterprise-scale IRM solutions while collaborating closely with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and engineering teams. This role requires strong technical expertise in ServiceNow development, solution architecture, integrations, workflow automation, and governance, risk, and compliance processes. The individual will also provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and help drive platform adoption and best practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- ServiceNow IRM Development & Solution Delivery
- Design, develop, configure, and implement solutions across the ServiceNow IRM platform, including Policy and Compliance Management, Risk Management, Audit Management, and related applications.
- Translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable and sustainable ServiceNow solutions.
- Lead effort estimation, technical design, development planning, and implementation activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Configure and customize ServiceNow applications, workflows, business rules, UI policies, client scripts, script includes, and integrations.
- Design, build, and maintain complex workflows to support governance, risk, compliance, and audit processes.
- Technical Leadership
- Own and deliver across all phases of project delivery.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to ServiceNow development standards, platform best practices, and architectural guidelines.
- Drive technical governance, solution quality, performance optimization, and platform stability.
- Own technical decision-making, roadmap planning and platform strategy.
- Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, compliance teams, and risk management teams to understand requirements and deliver business value.
- Facilitate discussions on solution design, trade-offs, implementation approaches, and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and timely delivery.
- Platform Support & Continuous Improvement
- Investigate and resolve production issues, defects, and performance bottlenecks related to ServiceNow IRM applications.
- Stay current with ServiceNow platform releases, emerging capabilities, and industry best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation, standardization, and platform optimization.
- Support platform upgrades, enhancements, and transformation initiatives.
- Team Development & Mentoring
- Mentor and coach engineers across varying experience levels and technical disciplines.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, engineering excellence, and knowledge sharing.
- Support upskilling initiatives and contribute to building organizational capability in ServiceNow IRM technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Overall 8+ years of hands-on experience in ServiceNow design, development, and implementation.
- 4+ years of specialized experience working with ServiceNow IRM/GRC solutions in enterprise environments.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript, Glide APIs, and ServiceNow platform architecture.
- Experience designing and implementing REST and SOAP integrations with internal and external systems.
- Hands‑on experience with Integration Hub and API-based integrations.
- Strong experience with ServiceNow Workspace, UI Builder, and Next Experience framework.
- Proven ability to develop scalable, maintainable, and secure ServiceNow solutions.
- Strong understanding of SDLC processes, source control, code quality standards, and automated testing practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred Certifications
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – IRM (CIS-IRM)
- Additional ServiceNow certifications will be considered an advantage.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with additional ServiceNow products, including: IT Service Management (ITSM), Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM/PPM), Security Operations (SecOps), Third‑Party Risk Management (TPRM), Vulnerability Response (VR).
- Experience implementing Virtual Agent capabilities.
- Familiarity with Performance Analytics and Reporting.
- Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies.
- Experience working in regulated financial services environments.
- Understanding risk, controls, compliance, audit, and regulatory frameworks.
