Qualifications

• Experience researching during 0-1 product builds where needs were undefined, not just feature-level studies.
• Ability to break down large, ambiguous problems into structured, cohort-based research plans.
• Strong qualitative depth with ability to integrate quantitative analytics into research synthesis.

We are looking for a Senior User Researcher to independently own research for one or more product charters and mentor juniors on technical craft. The role requires translating complex product and business problems into well-scoped research studies, synthesising findings into compelling narratives, and ensuring insights shape product and design decisions.

This is not a supported IC role. The expectation is full outcome ownership — from scoping through to insight implementation — within the researcher’s assigned charter.

Must-have

• 5+ years of hands-on user research experience with a track record of independently leading complex projects from scoping to delivery.
• Background in a consumer or marketplace product company with demonstrated ability to connect research to business and product outcomes.
• Experience contributing research during 0-1 product builds — where user needs and problem space were undefined — not just feature-level research.
• Comfort with ambiguity: able to break down large, poorly-defined problems into structured, cohort-based research plans.
• Strong qualitative depth with ability to integrate quantitative and analytics inputs into research synthesis.

Good to have

• Some experience informally guiding or reviewing the work of junior researchers, even without a formal mentoring title.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Psychology, Social Sciences, or related fields. Quality of work experience takes precedence over formal education.
