Job summary

SYSTRA India is seeking a Senior Urban Designer for an upcoming Zonal Development Plan for Uttar Pradesh. The role focuses on leading urban and regional planning, coordinating with government authorities, preparing master plans, and integrating transportation and environmental considerations into planning proposals.

The candidate should have a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning and at least 10 years of experience, with strong leadership and team management abilities.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in urban and regional planning from a recognized university.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in urban and regional planning.
• Proven experience as Team Leader/Project Manager for urban planning projects.
• Experience preparing Master Plans, Zonal Development Plans, Land Use Plans, SEZ Plans, and Sectoral Development Plans.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams with government agencies and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall planning, development, and execution of urban and regional planning assignments.
• Provide strategic direction for Master Plans, Zonal Development Plans, Land Use Plans, SEZ Plans and related documents.
• Coordinate with clients, government departments, local authorities, and stakeholders to align objectives and regulations.

We are seeking applications for the position of Senior Urban Designer for upcoming Zonal development Plan for Uttar Pradesh.

Missions/Main Duties

• Lead and manage the overall planning, development, and execution of urban and regional planning assignments.
• Provide strategic direction for the preparation of Master Plans, Zonal Development Plans, Land Use Plans, SEZ Plans, and other statutory planning documents.
• Coordinate with clients, government departments, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Guide the preparation and review of land use assessments, demographic studies, economic analyses, infrastructure plans, and environmental considerations.
• Integrate transportation planning, infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic factors into planning proposals.
• Oversee spatial analysis, GIS mapping, data collection, and visualization activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable urban development regulations, planning standards, and statutory requirements.
• Lead stakeholder consultations, workshops, and public engagement activities.
• Review and approve technical reports, planning documents, maps, and presentations.
• Monitor project timelines, quality standards, and deliverables to ensure successful project completion.
• Strong knowledge of urban planning principles, land use regulations, transportation systems, environmental planning, and infrastructure development.
• Proficiency in using urban planning software and tools for data analysis, mapping, and visualization.

Profile/Skills

• Masters degree in urban and Regional Planning or equivalent qualification from a recognized University/Institute.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in urban and regional planning.
• Proven experience as Team Leader/Project Manager for urban planning and development projects.
• Demonstrated experience in the preparation of:
  • Master Plans
  • Zonal Development Plans
  • Land Use Plans
  • Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Plans
  • Sectoral Development Plans
• Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and liaising with government agencies, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
