Job summary

Ramboll India is seeking an experienced Piping and Layout/Plant Design leader to drive high-quality multi-disciplinary projects from inception to delivery. You will lead project teams across Ramboll’s offices, ensuring design integrity, client satisfaction, and adherence to safety and QA/QC standards.

The role requires strong technical background in industry engineering, extensive design experience, and ability to coordinate with clients and partners across geographies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 17 years design experience with 7+ years in Middle East or Middle Eastern projects preferred.
• Proven track record in building services design across sectors (high rise, commercial, residential, healthcare, industrial).
• Proven record as a Project/Lead Engineer on multiple projects.
• Experience presenting to clients, attending demanding meetings, and preparing project proposals.
• Strong understanding of design stages, QA/QC, health & safety, and coordination with architects and engineers.

Responsibilities:

Specific areas of key responsibility include the following:

  • Awareness of all design stages and requirements
• To act as MEP Project Manager/Design Manager on selected projects by managing the successful delivery of high quality multi and single disciplinary projects
• Project manage and supervise teams to successfully deliver high quality discipline projects in accordance with corporate and client requirements
• Develop a thorough design philosophy, effectively contributing to the inception, development and detailed delivery of projects across all design stages.
• Undertake regular reviews of all key projects within own area of responsibility and proactively engage with clients and partners to gather feedback and deliver service improvement initiatives.
• Responsible for the correctness, accuracy and complete multi-disciplinary coordination of the design documentation in accordance with QA/QC review processes
• Attend external meetings and prepare design presentations and design reports.
• Input into business development activities through participation in external market profile raising activities and functions.
• Coordinate and liaise with all other design team members, including architects and structural engineers plus client, project managers and QS.
• Have a good knowledge of buildability, construction techniques, procurement routes, risk assessment and claim assessment.
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
• Strong attention to detail, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of the financial and commercial management of projects.
• Provide technical support to respond to prequalification documents, RFPs and other client inquiries.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.

• Bachelors or masters degree. in Mechanical Engineering
• Preferably a Chartered member of an internationally recognized professional body (e.g. CIBSE,)

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 17 years’ design experience, 7 years’ experience in Middle East or Middle eastern projects is preferable.
• Proven track record in building services design with different types of sectors, including high rise, commercial, residential, retail, Healthcare, Industrial, refurbishment, etc;
• Proven record as a Project Engineer/Lead Engineer on several projects.
• Experienced at:

  • Preparing project proposals for agreement
  • Planning and management of resources
  • Planning and execution of projects
  • Coordination with other designers and stakeholders

TECHNICAL SKILLS / KNOWLEGDE

Specific areas of anticipated technical skills include:

• Proven ability to carry out both manual and computer aided calculations, problem solving, technical and financial analyses, etc.
• Detailed knowledge of design software such as HASS, Elite etc
• Adequate knowledge of BIM / digitalization techniques and standards
• Strong software capability and proficiency in BIM360, AutoCAD and Navisworks,
• Detailed knowledge of local and international design standards, BSEN, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc
• Full knowledge of local statutory authorities’ regulations and submission requirements in the middle east.
• Advanced knowledge of design Principles of all PHE systems and market knowledge
• Maintain and participate in CPD events to develop own expertise.
