Job summary

Backbase, a global leader in Engagement Banking, seeks a System Engineer focused on Azure to join our L3 cloud-ops team. You will implement and manage Azure infrastructure, ensuring security, compliance, and cost efficiency while maintaining high availability for our services.

You will work with GitHub, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Istio, and Grafana to automate and monitor environments, mentor peers, and drive continuous improvement across our cloud platform.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in system engineering.
• At least 2 years hands-on with Azure cloud services.
• Proficient with Azure Front Door, WAF, Service Bus and Azure SQL Database.
• Strong English communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement and manage Azure cloud infrastructure for customers and internal runtimes.
• Contribute to cloud security, compliance, and disaster recovery best practices.
• Ensure solutions run securely, cost-efficiently, and with high availability.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues, improving resilience and scale.
• Mentor peers and promote automation-first approaches.

We are looking for a skilled System Engineer with a strong focus on Azure to join our global L3 team.

The L3 team is responsible for managing customers as well as internal runtimes - banks - and in that regard, we hold ourselves accountable to the highest professional standards in cloud ops. Resilience, Availability, and Scalability.

• Implement, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure to ensure our customers have access to the best features Azure has to offer.
• Implement and contribute to best practices for cloud security, compliance, and disaster recovery.
• Ensure that the solution always runs in a compliant, secure and cost-effective way.
• Ensure maximum reliability, high availability and uptime of the managed hosting service we provide to our customers..
• Help foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues, ensuring resilience, availability and scalability.
• Contribute to increasing operational efficiency and helping to bring overall cloud cost under control.
• You have a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure security, cloud-native technologies, and desired state configuration,
• You are proficient with tools and tech like GitHub, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Istio.
• You feel comfortable with the Grafana observability solution.
• You have strong communication skills allowing you to drive initiatives and decisions inside and outside your team;
• You have at least 3 years of experience in system engineering including at least 2 years of working with Azure cloud services;
• Your Azure competencies include but are not limited to Azure Front Door, WAF, Azure Service Bus, Azure SQL Database, Azure Regions, Availability Zones and DR.
• You combine technical excellence with mentorship skills, and provide your peers with hands-on guidance and collaborative problem-solving.
• You are focused on automation-first. Not content with anything manual, your goal is to make every process predictable and automated;
• You have a proven track record of implementing scalable, highly-available cloud infrastructure;
• Evidence of significant work experience with Azure is a plus;
• Work experience as software developer is a plus;
• Networking experience, including VPN configuration, is a plus;
• DB administration experience, including Azure SQL configuration, is a plus;
• Your English communication skills are excellent.
