Job summary

Backbase seeks a System Engineer with a strong Azure focus to join its global L3 cloud ops team in Hyderabad. You will implement and manage Azure infrastructure, sharpen cloud security, and ensure compliant, cost-efficient, highly available hosting for customers.

The role emphasizes automation, mentorship, and hands-on guidance, with exposure to GitHub, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Istio, and Grafana for observability and reliability.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years in system engineering with 2+ years on Azure.
• Experience with Azure Front Door, WAF, Service Bus, SQL Database.
• Proficient with GitHub, Kubernetes, ArgoCD and Istio.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Automation-first mindset to make processes predictable.

We are looking for a skilled System Engineer with a strong focus on Azure to join our global L3 team. The L3 team is responsible for managing customers as well as internal runtimes - banks - and in that regard, we hold ourselves accountable to the highest professional standards in cloud ops. • Implement, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure to ensure our customers have access to the best features Azure has to offer.
• Implement and contribute to best practices for cloud security, compliance, and disaster recovery.
• Ensure that the solution always runs in a compliant, secure and cost-effective way.
• Ensure maximum reliability, high availability and uptime of the managed hosting service we provide to our customers..
• Help foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues, ensuring resilience, availability and scalability.
• Contribute to increasing operational efficiency and helping to bring overall cloud cost under control.

• You have a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure security, cloud-native technologies, and desired state configuration,
• You are proficient with tools and tech like GitHub, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Istio.
• You feel comfortable with the Grafana observability solution.
• You have strong communication skills allowing you to drive initiatives and decisions inside and outside your team;
• You have at least 3 years of experience in system engineering including at least 2 years of working with Azure cloud services;
• Your Azure competencies include but are not limited to Azure Front Door, WAF, Azure Service Bus, Azure SQL Database, Azure Regions, Availability Zones and DR.
• You combine technical excellence with mentorship skills, and provide your peers with hands‑on guidance and collaborative problem‑solving.
• You are focused on automation‑first. Not content with anything manual, your goal is to make every process predictable and automated;
• You have a proven track record of implementing scalable, highly-available cloud infrastructure;
• Evidence of significant work experience with Azure is a plus;
• Work experience as software developer is a plus;
• Networking experience, including VPN configuration, is a plus;
• DB administration experience, including Azure SQL configuration, is a plus;
• Your English communication skills are excellent.
