Job summary

Buro Happold in Bengaluru seeks a Senior Structural Facade Engineer to lead façade structural design on complex projects in India and beyond. You will translate client ideas into robust, sustainable façade solutions and provide technical leadership to junior engineers while coordinating with architecture, structures, MEP and fire teams.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status and 10+ years in façade engineering, with expertise in aluminium, glass and secondary steel, plus hands-on Strand 7,

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of façade structural engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of façade systems, materials, structural behaviour and weather performance issues.
• Knowledge of EURO/British and American codes.
• Facade design including aluminium, glass and secondary steel.
• Familiarity with standards and acceptance criteria for façade elements.
• Hands-on with Strand 7, STAAD Pro, Mepla; basic Revit/Rhino/AutoCAD.
• Strong presentation, communication and reporting skills.
• Understanding interactions with architecture, structures, MEP, fire and acoustics.

• Represent BH in workshops with contractors; translate client ideas into robust façade solutions.
• Deliver clear design calculations and technical inputs for bids and projects.
• Maintain excellent client relationships and stakeholder coordination.

• In-depth design knowledge: Aluminium design.
• In-depth design knowledge: Secondary steel design.
• In-depth design knowledge: Glass structural design.

Your next role

• Act as Façade Structural Job Leader for projects led by the India Team.
• Representing the BH team in the workshop with contractors. Translate clients’ ideas into robust façade structural solutions.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer / Professional Engineer status with a recognised professional body
• Experience with Structural analysis tools such as STAAD Pro, SJ Mepla, RFEM, STRAND7 or any other relevant software's.
• Deliver clear design calculations and technical inputs for bids and project work.
• Maintain excellent client relationships and stakeholder coordination
• Mentor junior engineers in Façade structural Engineering
• In-depth design knowledge:
• Aluminum design
• Secondary steel design
• Glass structural design

Your Skills And Experience

• Minimum 10 years of Façade structural Engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of façade systems, materials, structural behaviour and weather performance issues.
• The role requires knowledge of the following key façade engineering code frameworks – EURO/British Codes, American Codes.
• Experience in facade structural design including Aluminium, glass and secondary steel.
• Familiarity with standards and acceptance criteria for façade elements.
• Hands on experience with Strand 7, STAAD Pro, Mepla and basic tools Revit/Rhino, AutoCAD. Strong presentation, communication and reporting skills
• Understanding of interactions with architecture, structures, MEP, fire and acoustics.

Good to Have

• Experience with working on multi-disciplinary international projects
• Experience with DfMA, precast, tensile structural design
• Practical experience with fabrication, handling, and installation of façade systems
• Proficiency with digital engineering platforms (Rhino, Grasshopper)
• Experience preparing technical reports using Excel, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, Adobe
• Strong grounding in building physics (ventilation, solar gain, thermal insulation, glare control)
• Experience advising on façade design from a sustainability and whole-life cycle perspective
• Postgraduate qualifications such as MSc in Façade Engineering or PhD-level research
