Job summary

Buro Happold in Bengaluru seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC from concept to detailed design for complex projects in India.

You will perform calculations, specify equipment, develop layouts and reports, manage CAD documentation, and coordinate with clients and other design teams.

The role requires 8–12 years of experience, strong knowledge of Indian standards, and the ability to balance cost, quality and schedule.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years' experience in building services design engineering.
• Experience in HVAC designing is a must.
• Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organisation, with ability to work independently.
• Working knowledge of Indian standards.
• Broad building design knowledge across a range of projects.
• Excel skills, including macros.
• Understanding of electrical concepts and coordination with other design disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the HVAC from concept to detailed design stages.
• Detailed design drawings with a specialisation in mechanical design (HVAC, Plumbing & Firefighting etc in ASHRAE).
• Carry out mechanical design calculations, sizing, equipment selection, layouts and technical reports.
• Prepare technical specifications and schedules and design development reports.
• Plan and manage CAD documentation of design work.
• Inform senior team members of important design decisions and client objectives.
• Manage project finances, monitor scope and ensure quality.
• Plan and organise workload to meet client expectations.
• Attend client, site and external design team meetings.
• Support junior engineers and participate in internal design reviews.

Your next role

• Lead the HVAC from concept to detailed design stages.

• Support junior engineers and participate in internal design reviews to ensure quality and consistency

Your Skills And Experience

• 8-12 years' experience in building services design engineering;
• Experience in HVAC Designing is a must
• Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organisation, combined with ability to work independently.
• Working knowledge and understanding of Indian standards.
• Broad building design knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects.
• Excel skills (a detailed understanding including the use of macros).
• Although mechanically biased it is expected that you will have a good understanding of electrical concepts and their impact upon the overall project. Ideally also showing an awareness of other key design team members such as architects, structural and civil engineers.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, IES, and Hevacomp software
• Bachelors degree or Masters degree in relevant subject.
