Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests with professional, courteous service and take orders accurately.
• Explain menu items and daily specials to guests and suggest wines/dishes.
• Supervise junior stewards and coordinate floor operations with Captains/Managers.
• Ensure proper table setup, cleanliness, and service readiness.
• Enter orders in POS and assist with billing and payments when needed.
• Maintain hygiene and safety standards across service areas.

Job Summary

We are looking for a well-groomed and experienced Senior Steward to join our restaurant service team. The candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent guest service, assisting in daily restaurant operations, guiding junior stewards, and maintaining high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and service quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Guest Service & Operations

• Welcome guests and provide professional, courteous, and attentive service.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately and communicate them to the kitchen and bar teams.
• Serve food and beverages according to restaurant service standards.
• Explain menu items, ingredients, and daily specials to guests.
• Recommend dishes and beverages to enhance the guest experience.
• Handle guest requests promptly and **escalate** complaints to the Captain or Restaurant Manager.
• Ensure timely service and maintain guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience.

2. Team Supervision

• Guide and support junior stewards and new team members.
• Assist the Captain and Restaurant Supervisor in coordinating floor operations.
• Help allocate sections and ensure tables are attended to efficiently.
• Support pre-service briefings and communicate special guest requirements.
• Monitor staff grooming, punctuality, and adherence to service standards.

3. Restaurant Setup & Maintenance

• Ensure proper table setup, including cutlery, crockery, glassware, and linen.
• Maintain cleanliness of tables, service stations, and guest areas.
• Follow opening and closing checklists.
• Ensure service equipment is handled and stored properly.
• Maintain fine-dining presentation and hygiene standards.

4. Billing & Coordination

• Enter orders accurately into the POS system.
• Coordinate with the kitchen and bar for smooth order execution.
• Assist with billing and payment processing when required.
• Ensure correct order delivery and minimize service errors.

5. Hygiene & Safety

• Follow food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards.
• Maintain proper handling of food, beverages, crockery, and glassware.
• Report damaged equipment, shortages, and maintenance issues.
• Follow company policies and standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Previous experience as a Steward or Senior Steward in a restaurant, hotel, or fine-dining establishment.
• Hotel Management degree or diploma preferred.
• Good communication and guest-handling skills.
• Knowledge of food and beverage service procedures.
• Basic POS and billing knowledge.
• Leadership skills and the ability to guide junior staff.
• Professional grooming, a positive attitude, and teamwork.
