SailPoint is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Identity Product Engineering team in Pune, India. The role involves developing and debugging enterprise software, contributing to UI components and REST services, and collaborating with Engineering, Support, and customers on L3 escalations.
The Pune office operates on a hybrid model, with 2–3 days in office. You will work with Java/J2EE technologies, REST, and multiple UI frameworks, with a strong emphasis on quality code and customer impact.

About you and the role: SailPoint is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Feature teams for the Identity product. In this role, you are responsible for increasing the quality of Identity and developing solutions to customer reported issues. You are responsible for writing quality code in addition to debugging complex problems. You will work closely with the broader Engineering team, as well as Support, and occasionally communicate directly with customers to assist in L3 Support escalations. We’re looking for candidates with a strong work ethic who can work with a team of very experienced Software Engineers and Testers. Lack of experience in a particular technology/platform is not a showstopper if there is a skill of immediate usefulness, as well as a commitment to continual learning.
Set up local test and development environments. Schedule introductory meetings with peers across Engineering and Support. Review documentation on L3 escalation procedures. Deep understanding of the Identity product offering, the Java/J2EE technology stack, and the internal process for handling customer-reported issues.
Partner with other developers to reproduce and debug complex customer issues. Begin developing solutions for initial tickets. Contribute to UI components and REST-based web services. Successful transition to hands‑on coding, delivering high‑quality solutions for customer issues, and seamless collaboration within the Feature team.
Independently handle complex L3 escalations and communicate directly with customers. Expand unit testing coverage using frameworks like TestNG/JUnit. Share knowledge with the team. Consistent delivery of quality code, proactive prevention of future escalations through improved test coverage, and establishing oneself as a reliable team expert.
