Job title: Senior Software Engineer

About the role
This position reports to a manager based in Pune, India. You will collaborate with teams globally, so flexibility with early/late morning starts will be needed.
The ideal candidate is a polyglot engineer comfortable moving between systems‑level macOS development and high‑scale backend services written in Java and Go, while managing complex data flows through Snowflake, Kafka, and S3.
Responsibilities
- Work on complex scope problems, produce designs and rough estimates, and implement features based on product requirements.
- Contribute as a full‑team member, planning and executing responsibilities independently under broad guidance.
- Use various AI tools approved by the organization to optimize efforts and create greater impact.
- Build upon domain knowledge and technical/proprietary skills to reach higher levels of expertise.
- Collaborate with peers across different time zones on designs, code reviews, and testing.
- Mentor junior members and guide them on technical solutions.
Requirements
- Technical Proficiency: 5+ years of professional software development experience with deep expertise in Java or Go.
- macOS Expertise: Proven experience developing or maintaining macOS applications (familiarity with Swift/Objective‑C or system‑level macOS APIs is a significant plus).
- Experience developing microservices in multi‑tenant SaaS application.
- Problem Solving: Ability to navigate a complex, multi‑language environment and bridge the gap between desktop clients and backend infrastructure.
- Fast learner and self‑directed, flexible enough to work on new technologies as well as some legacy components.
Desired (nice‑to‑have) Skills
- Cloud & Data: Strong experience with AWS S3 and Apache Kafka.
- Data Warehousing: Experience working with Snowflake (querying, optimizing, and integrating).
- Orchestration: Experience with DAG‑based workflow tools (e.g., Apache Airflow or similar).
- Identity Security: Familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts and ISC connector frameworks is highly preferred.
What success looks like in the role
In first 30 days (Onboarding & Integration)
- Understanding Domain and Product: You will understand the Identity Management domain, SailPoint’s Identity Security Cloud, and other products.
- Environment Mastery: Your development environment will be fully configured for the macOS application, as well as our Java and Go microservices.
- Architecture Deep Dive: You will gain a solid understanding of the data flow between our microservices, Kafka, and Snowflake, and how the ISC connectors integrate with the broader identity ecosystem.
- Initial Contributions: You will have successfully completed your first few code reviews and shipped a minor bug fix or improvement to the macOS application or a backend service.
In first 90 days (Execution & Ownership)
- Full Ownership: You will take primary responsibility for the maintenance and evolution of the macOS application, including OS compatibility updates and performance tuning.
- Service Reliability: You will manage the ISC connectors and backend microservices, ensuring that data pipelines (Kafka, S3, Snowflake) run smoothly.
- Orchestration Proficiency: You will navigate and modify DAGs to ensure reliable data orchestration and troubleshoot pipeline failures.
In first 180 days (Innovation & Impact)
- Technical Leadership: You will be the recognized subject matter expert for the macOS application, proactively identifying and mitigating potential system‑level issues before they impact users.
- Optimization & Scaling: You will lead at least one major architectural improvement, such as optimizing Snowflake data ingestion or increasing the throughput of our Go‑based microservices.
- Strategic Growth: You will contribute to the long‑term roadmap for our identity integrations and mentor other engineers on macOS systems development and distributed backend architecture.
