Job summary

Onit is seeking a Senior Software Architect in India to lead design and implementation for the OnitX AppBuilder Platform. You will steer front-end and back-end directions and mentor junior developers.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in web development, with strong JavaScript/React, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker and Kubernetes, and Agile experience.

You will collaborate with designers, product management, and QA to deliver scalable AI-powered legal tech solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in web development with leadership.
• Strong front-end with JavaScript and React.
• Ruby on Rails and SQL experience; PostgreSQL a plus.
• Experience with AWS, containers and Kubernetes.
• Familiar with CI/CD and Agile methodologies.
• Proficient in Mac/Linux development environments.

As an Senior Software Architect at Onit, you will lead the design and implementation of new features and APIs as part of the OnitX AppBuilder Platform Development team. The primary focus of this position will be on enhancing the engine that enables our Products team to build applications that we sell in the Legal Tech market. The ideal candidate will be able to lead the technical direction of both Front End and Back End development as well as provide leadership and mentoring to more junior development and QA resources.
The current tech stack includes Ruby on Rails, React, JavaScript and PostgreSQL. We deploy to AWS. We are an agile software development shop and believe in automated testing

Responsibilities

• Plan, build and launch features for our products.
• Lead design and use of technology to best solve business problems including performance improvement of existing software.
• Evaluate emerging technologies continually to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices to strengthen development practices and improve productivity.
• Work closely with our designers and project management team to craft well thought out user experiences.
• Work closely with Product Management and provide analysis on complexity and effort required for completion of new features and initiatives.
• Estimate development tasks and meet deadlines.
• Troubleshoot CI/CD issues and maintain an understanding of our deployment architecture.
• Work directly with the support team to troubleshoot and solve issues as part our escalation team and to help more junior resources solve issues they are not experienced enough to solve.

Skills/Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience using current language(s) for web development.
• Demonstrated leadership in projects preferably including examples in:
• Experience with front-end development and technologies including JavaScript and React is required.
• Dynamic languages such as Ruby on Rails.
• Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of the SQL language and relational databases. Experience with PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts. Experience with AWS, containerization and Kubernetes are highly desired.
• Demonstrated understanding of full cycle development leveraging Agile methodologies.
• Ability to work and develop in Mac/Linux environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of engineering in computer science/Software engineering or other similar equivalent disciplines is required.
