Job summary

mPokket is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Mobile) to lead the Android mobile platform, delivering high-performance apps used by millions. You will combine deep Android expertise with leadership to shape architecture, guide engineers, and drive reliability and scalability across releases.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years of Android development with Java/Kotlin, strong knowledge of Android SDK and MVVM/MVP/MVC patterns, and hands-on experience with RESTful APIs and Firebase.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on Android development experience using Java and Kotlin.
• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, lifecycle management, and performance optimization.
• Deep understanding of Android design principles, platform capabilities, and architecture patterns.
• Experience integrating RESTful web services and APIs.
• Knowledge of XML/JSON and mobile data exchange mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and delivery of Android application components using Java and Kotlin while ensuring high code quality and maintainability.

• Lead design discussions, sprint planning, estimation exercises, and technical reviews with engineering teams and business stakeholders.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and detailed implementation plans.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and engineering standards.
• Identify technical risks and proactively recommend solutions to improve system stability, scalability, and performance.
• Establish and enforce coding standards, testing frameworks, debugging practices, and deployment processes.
• Oversee production support activities, analyse recurring issues, lead root cause analysis, and drive platform reliability improvements.
• Mentor and guide engineers through code reviews, technical coaching, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with Product, QA, Operations, and Engineering teams to deliver features within agreed timelines while maintaining quality standards.
• Lead innovation initiatives, evaluate emerging technologies, and contribute to next-generation mobile platform development.
