Job summary

Moody's Investors Service is seeking a software engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend platform services and modern frontend experiences on the Intelligent Risk Platform.

You will work with Java, C#.NET, REST APIs, Docker and Kubernetes in a cloud-native environment, collaborating with product and engineering teams to deliver high-quality, reliable solutions. This role requires 5+ years of experience and a strong foundation in database technologies and performance tuning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in full-stack development.
• Expertise in Java, C#/.NET, REST APIs, microservices.
• Experience with SQL Server, NoSQL, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Strong design, scalability, and reliability principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend platform services and modern frontend user experiences.
• Build scalable APIs and cloud-native systems supporting core platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into secure, high-performing applications.
• Participate in architecture reviews, technical reviews, and software quality initiatives.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges while promoting best practices for maintainability and reliability.
• Support innovation, modernization, and continuous platform improvement efforts across the organization.

Skills and Competencies

• 5+ years of software engineering experience developing modern full-stack applications and platform services
• Strong expertise in Java, C#/.NET, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native application architectures
• Experience with relational databases specifically Microsoft SQL Server, NoSQL technologies, Docker, Kubernetes, and distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL Server Database Administration (DBA) and SQL Server performance tuning preferred.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, scalability, performance engineering, testing, and operational excellence
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams and deliver high-quality solutions in complex enterprise environments

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience

The Intelligent Risk Platform – Data Platform team builds and operates highly scalable Data platform services powering Moody’s Insurance products. Team members work with modern technologies spanning cloud platforms, distributed systems, data engineering, and high-performance application development.
